The great adventure of the day =)

Today Katie and I went on a long and perilous journey to Worcester, MA.  haha  I say perilous because we passed exits we were supposed to take, one several times, and because the gps lady voice was rather annoying at times.  However, I am getting damn good at reading maps and figuring out alternate routes to our destinations =)  Katie and I make a good team :P  We went to the Higgins Armory Museum and I took some snazzy pictures.  We tried on helmets and got to see all the shiny armor and weaponry.  =)  I took some pictures of really cool samuri armor and weapons to show Matt and Mike, (since Mike is really into samuri).

A medieval gun.

A sick mace.

and some really sexy spear/axe weapon that I really loved the curving blade on ^_^
And of course, the samuri stuff was really cool on it's own as well.  So I had to take some pictures of all that stuff too =)

I also thought the sketches in the background were really cool.  =)

Swords and various other artifacts.

Awesome samuri fight photos.

Really cool artist's depiction of samuri warfare.

A close up of the above picture.
One other thing that I got a kick out of was the chastity belt display, which I learned was a myth, but this particular one was made for kicks in the 1800s.  "Call the locksmith!"

We also tried on helmets, made wax rubbings, and saw the same arms and armor demonstration I saw the last time I visited Higgins...about 8 years ago haha.  Damn, that makes me feel old.  :P  Odd that they're still doing the same demonstration.

After Higgins Katie and I went for a drive to a nearby park and ate our lunches under the shade of a gazebo.  The scenery was pretty even if the gazebo was graffittied inside.  After that we headed out onto the next part of our journey to the EcoTrium or something like that, to see wildlife and do some sciency things.  Thanks to Katie we got in for free (even if I was her sister for that time :P haha), and despite it being hot, it was pretty fun.  I hope the little carnivorous plant Matt and I are the proud owners of will grow to look like this someday:

Hehe.

I picked up some tea for my mom from while at Higgins, they didn't have the English kind they used to carry (it was replaced by some crazy new Indian teas), so instead I picked her up some other Orange-Berry tea and she seemed equally, if not more, excited about it.  So I done good =)  I picked up a set of 5 candles that came with a pewter astrological sign candle holder for a mere $3 for myself.  The candle holder would be great for holding astral candles in spells.  =)  Or just for holding a regular candle for when I write my letters!!! :D

I picked up something else while we were out today that I plan on giving Matt for his birthday.  I hope he likes it.  I'm certainly excited about it.  =)

Even though I was a bit bummed about not being able to hang out with him tonight, tomorrow night will be a much better pick of the two evenings, and I'll get to play slumber party again ^_^  ('cept this time I won't have my "friend" so it should be easier to sleep without cramps).  All in all something to look forward to after a long day at work.

Thanks for the good times today Katie!!! :)
