Annoying practical necessities

I have been living in Japan for almost a year now and the time has come to renew my working visa so that I may continue to stay in the country.  This is a huge pain.  First of all I have to go to an immigration office that is almost an hour away from where I live by taking a train and then a bus.  I was almost afraid I couldn't apply at all today since they had recently changed the application forms including one for your company to fill.  However I was lucky and they still accepted the old application form.  Unfortunately I was told that I now have to go to my city office to get some kind of local tax certificate before the visa can be renewed.  The immigration officer helping me also didn't speak any English so I couldn't ask all the questions I had.  I am asking around my other friends to see if I can figure things out.  I really hate these kind of things and I never understand how they work.  I still have some time for the renewal but I want it done soon, partly because I just want it over with but the current visa ends right in the middle of a trip to Singapore.  I need the renewal so I can get a reentry permit so I can come back to Japan afterwards.  There is no way I am skipping this trip either since it is a special Dears event that only a very limited number of people could join.  I have already paid for it and since if it weren't for GACKT I would never have even thought about actually moving to Japan, something that I think was very good for me to do, so it is very important for me to go.  I simply will not be happy till all the visa stuff is taken care of so that I know I can go to Singapore without any worries.
