The Show Must Go On

Kysmyt shot upright as her eyes fluttered open.  She frantically scanned her surroundings, this was obviously not Quel' Thalas.  Water dripped down the moss-stricken walls, the entire structure crafted of stone, from the inside anyway.  Her legs swung off the stone mass she had been laying on, a faint echo broke the silence as her feet hit the rocky floor.  Kysmyt straightened herself up the best she could, her bones cracking with each movement.  A matted piece of hair fell in her face, she paused as she brought her hand up to move it.  Her fingers were now long and skeletal, bits of flesh missing here and there.

Kysmet reached up to feel her face, a distinct clink of bone against bone rang in her ears as she traced her jaw.  She made her way up to her long ears.  The right one was still intact, perhaps the only clue left of her heritage.  She slowly felt along the left, and traced over the jagged surface where the top half of her ear once met the remaining bottom half.

Dead.  I'm dead. She raced over the words in her mind a million times as she climbed the steps leading out of the mausoleum.  She wandered along the hills under the endless twilight sky.  A shuffling to her right broke her deep concentration.  Kysmyt turned to see a coprse limp past her.

"Sinu a'manore." she called out to the human shell.  It looked at her, a string of saliva dripping from it's mouth.  It began to shamble toward her, the hopeful smile fading from her face.  A hoarse gasp escaped it's mouth as it tried to bite into her shoulder.   Kysmyt cracked her shield into the creatures head, sending it stumbling back.  She charged forward, burying her sword into it's chest.  The hulk fell to the ground, and she dropped beside to to catch her breath.  The scent of flesh filled her nostrils.  A perplexed look fell on Kysmyt's face as she wondered why she suddenly felt hungry.
