Possibly continuation/expansion of themes: empty birdcage, mirrors, blurred focus, feathers (nailed to wall, fan), tub and water, on screen text
As I discussed durring the showing of the rough cut, the basic idea is the task of trying to hold onto, or control things that are impossible to "pin down," as it were. Symbols that I often work with in my own work that I was considering incorporating are the above mentioned. I feel that all of these things represent aspects of freedom/entrapment, which are the two emotions that either come out of or lead to the overall theme of the video which is striving for some control in an out of control situation.
I'm struggling with leaving things more or less the way it was shown in the rough cut, which is very simple, but I'm inclined to go the other direction which would be to add more diverse shots and utilize color correction and some subtle visual effects in post (either antiquating or boosting the saturation - or both).
What are your thoughts?

I've also been compiling images that have a certain visual quality that I would like to incorporate in the video although I'll definitely not use all of them.
