I'll be interested to hear what's going on with Daniel. He's being unusually judgemental about Nick for, you know, Daniel. ;) I'm having trouble getting my head around Jack being the one that's out of phase. That may be because this episode was such a good Daniel episode (one of my favorites), or it may be because I was anticipating what this Daniel might say about the situation, and to Nick, when he thought he was invisible. Hard to say...
This was one of my favorite Daniel episodes, too, but I thought it lost some of its depth without the unresolved issues between Daniel and Nick; and writing Jack's frustration was a lot of fun :)
Best line of the whole chapter: “Me! Hello!” Jack yelled. “Major Carter! I order you to...see me.”
Wow, it is very different if Daniel isn't the one out of phase, isn't it? I loved how you portrayed Jack's impatience, very, very Jack. Just hated to lose the Jack-falling-on-his-face-and-Teal'c-picking-him-up scene!
And I'm of two minds whether I want Nick and Daniel to acknowledge their relationship. But, if this plays out like the original, Jack's already spilled those beans with that last remark to Nick...
Wow, what an interesting twist on the ep! Nice to see the way they already researched Nick in Legacy coming into play, and this more cautious Daniel knowing happened to Nick - yes, very neat.
Jack's parting line to Nick had me LOL. Can't wait for the next part!
I was wondering how you were going to get around the problem of Nick not knowing he has a grandson and therefore not recognizing a half-shifted Daniel. Having Jack as the one who got shifted sidesteps that awkwardness neatly and gives us the wonderful opportunity to see Jack dealing with his inability to interact with the others.
"This was how he discovered that he could not walk through walls."
Trying to walk through walls just because he thinks he can is SO Jack. :-) That's MY favorite line! :-D I like how you worked around the variation in physical resistance of objects in a sensible fashion (very similar to the assumptions I'd always made about this episode). I'm really looking forward to the next chapter.
