He wakes up to a significantly cold bed and lonely feelings. An arm - bare - moves to explore the area, patting around the sheets. Then Kibum's eyes open to see that he is in fact alone, the bed empty of it's other occupant. With a soft grumble, he sits up, ribbing his face tiredly. Where could he have gone?
They had had the apartment to themselves last night, and would that morning as well. But how could he enjoy it if his lover wasn't there? Missing the other, and the warmth he brought, he went searching for him. It only took a minute - and a lot of yelling - for Kibum to confirm that he wasn't there in the apartment, which meant he was outside. A glance at the television screen when it's turned on tells him that it's raining, and an irritated sigh passes through his lips.
He'd have to go outside. In the rain. At - he didn't even want to know what time it was.
Kibum pulled on a pair of Minho's sweatpants, and a sweater that probably belonged to Jonghyun, and headed to the door. He paused before going out though, remembering to grab an umbrella.
And there he was; Jinki, just standing outside in an alley, while rain poured down on and all around him. He had his jacket on, but nothing to keep himself from getting soaked. Kibum called his name, but through the loud sounds of the world going on in their midst, the other couldn't hear him. He was forced to walk out into the downpour, though he was mostly protected thanks to his umbrella. He approached him swiftly, holding the umbrella out so they were both covered. “Hyung, what are you doing? You're going to catch a cold like this!”
Jinki turned to him, smiling one of his sunny smiles. “Don't you know what day it is today, Kibum?” He looked so at ease and comfortable, sure of what he was doing. And of course the diva knew the answer to that question. Valentine's day - and Lunar New Year's Day, but that was not the occasion they were talking about. Wasn't the whole point of them having time alone together because of what day it was? “Well, I came out to think and make my promise.”
“Promise..?”
The older reaches into the pocket of his jeans and pulls something out. He holds his hand into a tight fist so Kibum can't see what he has. Intense curiosity makes said boy shuffle his feet impatiently, and Jinki is still smiling, though a bit more nervously. He extends his other hand and takes his lover's free one - his left hand - and places something cold in it. Before he lets go, he says softly, “My promise to you, Kibum, is that I will never leave you, and I'll take care of you the best I can.” Then he drops his hand, allowing him to see his gift.
It's a silver band. Simple, and not extravagant, but beautiful all the same. A promise ring, Kibum thinks, and notices that Jinki is putting one identical to his on. He's so fixed on the one in his palm, however, because he's never been given something so precious before. It's special.
“I'll always love you,” he murmurs, and Kibum can feel his cheeks burning a shade of pink. He slips the ring on - after Jinki takes hold of the umbrella for him - smiling to himself as he does so, and feels it growing warm from his body heat. Then they meet gazes, and for a reason Kibum doesn't understand, the other chuckles. “You can put it on any finger, but the one you picked was...”
The rapper looked down and felt a rush of embarrassment. He hadn't even realized it, it had just felt natural - right - to put it on that finger. But of course, it had to be his left ring finger. “It's okay, I like it there,” Jinki says, and leans forward to press a gently kiss to his lips.
When he moves away, Kibum looks down for a moment. “Thank you, for the ring and your promise...” His dark eyes look back up, unwavering. “I'll always love you, too.”
They move to kiss again, but suddenly the leader's head turns and he sneezes violently into his elbow. They pause, silent, and then they both laugh. Kibum bites his lip, fighting to look serious but it was hard when the other had had such a surprised expression on his face. “If you get sick,” he warns. “I'm not kissing you until you're better.”
Jinki frowns, but it is quickly replaced by another sweet smile. “That's okay, it was worth it. And we'll still sleep in the same bed, right?”
A nod. “As long as I don't wake up and find you out here again.”
“Don't worry,” They hold hands as the walk back to their apartment, back to their warm home. “I won't disappear and get soaked again, I promise.”
