I got to wear my new corset top I got earlier this week. It's very punk themed and lacy so I had a lot of fun wearing it to the concert today. Yui and I left my house at 12:30 after we drove back to her house to get her ticket and then back to mine to get my ear plugs. ^^;; And then we were off! We listened to KuRt for most of the ride and it wasn't that bad a drive until we reached Hartford. We got lost as soon as we got in the city. We called my dad for help and finally we found our way out of the shady part of the city. We were driving and suddenly Yui was like "Look! Angry people! We must be close to the concert now,". And she was so right. We drove down to the New England Dodge Center and got directions to the free parking lot. In the process Yui was given a business card by this guy looking for an asian actress. ^^;;;
So we parked and walked to the center. We had fun looking at all the angry people (a lot of whom weren't wearing shirts). By the time we got init was passed 3 and we were really hoping Dir en Grey hadn't played yet. Luckily we found out they were playing at 5. We then had two hours to kill. We wandered around looking at the booths and trying to stay away from all the creepy drunk people. Yui saw the game booths with pimp hats as prizes and she kept going on about how she wanted one. She also cracked up over all the bongs there were selling for "tobacco use only". haha. Brought back memories of those men selling bongs on OHill. Anyway, we had fun laughing over the planned parenthood booth, the rock climbing wall and the "kick the family jewels" game. ^^;;;; In the process of wandering around we found out the bands would be meeting fans to do sighnings and such but you needed a wristband to get in and to get one of those you had to purchase one of their cds. So Yui and I went to their booth and I bought a signed copy of Whithering to Death (even though I already have a burned copy) and she bought some other Diru cd. But hey we got wristbands out of it so yay.
We then went and sat in the concert hall to listen to some of the bands. We caught the end of Bury Your Dead who sucked. They couldn't play their instruments and all the vocalist could do was scream. The next band, 10 years, was a lot better. Couldn't really hear the vocals over the loud music though. I think I really would have enjoyed it had I been able to hear him sing. Finally 5 came around. We saw a bunch of black haired peole come out and check the instruments. We were both like that had better not be the band, they can't go american! Luckily it was just the roadies for the band came out soon after.
I always knew Kyo was tiny but to see is to believe. He is so tiny and thin! He had tons of energy and hopped around like a little monkey. Yui and I had fun cracking up over his antics. Die was looking cool with his half red half black hair. He was also really tall and looked good in army pants and a black wife beater. Shinya was having a blast on the drums. Kaouru and Toshiya were just kinda there and playing their instruments. We only recognized a few of the songs. Kyo kind of killed Garbage (the song I love) but Dead Tree sounded really good. The crowd was also really good natured about Diru and they had quite a few fans making themselves known. To end the show Kyo dumped a bucket of water on himself. haha. I just wish we had been closer to see them better.
Here are some pics I stole off the Family Values website since we weren't allowed cameras. Kyo with Die in the middle. God, Kyo needs some makeup. So ugly without it...
We then went to stand in line to meet the band. But first we went and bought a disposable camera, since you're not allowed to bring a real camera in. *grumbles* We stood in line until 6:30 when staff came and told us we couldn't take pictures or ask them to sign anything. >.< Also the girls behind us were really annoying and fangirly. But Yui and I passed the time talking about Tenten and how she plans to stalk him and send him a rock with his face on it so she can get put on his blog. ^^;; Later the line started moving. We got to shake hands with Die and Kaouru. Die was so cool looking! He's the one in the middle pic with the red hair. I don't even remember what Kaoru looked like because I was just like "wow, Die's so cool!". ^^;;;; How very sad of me.
Anywayyyy Yui and I then went around taking pics of booths and each other. She was trying to take one of me when some random guy came up behind me to be in the pic (jokingly of course...I think...). I also got stopped by some random drunk older guy who was like "do I know you from somewhere?" He friends cracked up over the look on my face. We just kinda walked away and decided we had had enough of all the creeps and drunks. Only to get catcalls from guys driving and walking by. Talk about unwanted attention. I was soo glad Yui and I went together and not alone.
So we got to the car and out of Hartford in one piece. We stopped to eat in Charlton. It was sooo nice to eat after not doing so all day. And to sit back and relax and not have to worry about getting lost. I made it home in one piece around 9:30. So yeah, I had a lot of fun hanging out with Yui and seeing Dir en Grey (when I wasn't stressed out of my mind about getting lost). And now I reallyyy need to go pack my clothes since I'm moving in tomorrow...
