BPAL review 22: Cathedral, Greed, The Sea Foams Milk and The Sea Foams Blood

Jan 18, 2011 22:32

Name: Cathedral
Collection: Sin & Salvation
Description: Venerable and solemn: the scent of incense smoke wafting through an ancient church. A true ecclesiatical blend of pure resins
In the Imp (wet): Yech! The sharp incense blend of resins is enough to make my eyes water.
On me: Still can't stand it and it's awful. I immediately needed to wash it off the back of my hand.

Name: Greed
Collection: Sin & Salvation
Description: Base and earthy, yet glittering with golden notes: patchouli, heliotrope, copal and oakmoss.
In the Imp (wet): Wet, this one is another tricky one to find myself liking at all. It's always the patchouli that does me in.
On me: On the dry down, this is warmer and the floral notes are more prominent, but still not one I like at all.

Name: The Sea Foams Milk
Collection: Marchen
Description: Milk cresting on an ocean wave.
In the Imp (wet): This is a sweet aquatic with white bright florals.
On me: The milk is creamy and smooth, almost as if it's been warmed with a hint of hazelnut sprinkled on top. As it dries down, there's heaps of salt and green to it.

Name: The Sea Foams Blood
Collection: Marchen
Description:Blood rising through an ocean wave.
In the Imp (wet): I had expected to smell resins or the harsher notes of incense, but this reminds me strongly of laundry detergent, particularly Dynamo (my mum's favorite detergent). There's that sharp fresh aquatic, with a metallic tang that catches in the back of your nose.
On me: Yup, definitely Dynamo. As much as I associate this with fresh clean clothes, it's a little bit much for wearing as a scent.
