Well, an update is long overdue.
The garden is flourishing, even if I'm not really selling anything. One woman came by for some lettuce and commented that my beets were looking nice, and she'd be back for them. I did not say, but thought very loudly: "my beets! Not for sale!" on account of I didn't plant more than I needed. As money-making crop go, root vegetables suck, as they take up garden space for months, and don't regrow since you harvest the whole plant.
But the awesome news is that I am not only teaching two lab sections @ CBU (technically four, two per semester), but I have a lecture section first semester, too! It's "Physics for people that don't really want to take physics but have to" as opposed to the "Physics for engineers", though there are plenty of engineers who fit the first category too. However, "Physics for people who don't like physics" is something of a specialty of mine. Hell, I can teach math to Gr 8 students, and let me tell you that ain't easy. If I had to do *that* full-time, I'd go mad. Well, madder, anyway.
The older pair have been at their Nana's for the past week. Wee Mr. M. is going crazy without them, though he may be fighting off something. Or it could just be a growth spurt. On the plus side, he's started taking naps again, possibly because there isn't the distraction of older siblings doing something more interesting. This afternoon I think we'll follow Mommy to the library for a change of pace.
Let's see: oh yes, I started an email list for the Green Cape Breton group (I think of "green" as both verb, noun and adjective these days, and I like to read the group's name as an imperative), and the very fact of its creation has apparently sparked dissension amongst ThoseWhoWouldLead. *sigh* I suppose this is the nature of grassroots democratic action. Perhaps undermining ThoseWhoWouldLead is valuable service in a democracy -- it is certainly one I take perverse pleasure in.
ummmm.... yeah I think that's about it.
Every so often I think about making an ActualBlog, but the rules I would impose on myself just seem so silly. Don't look for anything like that anytime soon. I'm already wondering if I'll regret becoming a moderator on an active listserver. As dearly bought as computer time can be, I do often begrudge it. Harken to the online dads,
kalivor! Your free time is running out!
