...actually, things begun when i was offered the job, but whatever.
today i express mailed my signed contract + visa documents to Japan! FedEx guarantees their arrival by 6pm Thursday (09/12/13) JST. crossing my fingers that the visa process will be quick and painless...! i hear things have changed a lot in Japan since i left in regards to visas, alien registration, etc...
also, i've got a bit more information in the past 24hrs. not much, but enough to give me a buzz. D;
- job start date is Nov. 14th, so i should arrive on the 13th.
- i'll be shadowing my predecessor for my 2 weeks of training.
- i'll be staying in the school's guest room for those 2 weeks as my pred will still have the apartment, so my move-in date will be Nov 30th/Dec 1st.
- the apartment is a 2DK with tatami floors! DDDD:
i'm not sure when i'll book the flight to Japan... i'm dirt broke now, so probably after a couple of paychecks from my other new job. i'm anxious to do it asap, though, as i want to fly with a particular airline (ANA!!!) and they only have two flights a day with only one stop from Vegas. also, i want the lowest price i can get, of course.
oh, and omg. D; it's ridiculous that i'm even excited by this, but i did a little searching and found out that there are airport buses directly from Narita Airport (Tokyo's international airport) to Hitachinaka! how fucking awesome is that?!?!?! ...lmao, i guess i'm so excited by that purely because i used to live in a place where getting to an international airport required a LOT more effort, time and money. oh, how convenient being so close to Tokyo will be...! :'x
about the shadowing my pred part, i'm really happy that i'll have such an opportunity. on the other hand, i'm nervous because i know that i'll be judged by everyone, including my pred. what if i end up being a total noob and embarrass myself?? OH, THE PRESSURE. ;(
and about the apartment.... OMG 2. D. K!!! my
previous apartment in Kochi was a 1(D?)K apartment, similar to this:
and before i go any further, i guess i should explain the abbreviations. the # is the number of general purpose rooms. K = kitchen, D = "dinning room" (not by western standards), L = living room. so a 1K is basically a studio apartment (ie. a 1 room apartment) with a kitchen. 2DK = 2 room apartment with a dinning room and kitchen. maybe it will look something like this?
maybe. but either way, it will be bigger...!! and the two rooms will have tatami mats (woven bamboo mats) rather than the hardwood flooring that my previous apartment had which turned my apartment into a freezer during winter. I'M SO EXCITED! :DDD especially about the bigger apartment. that's one of the things that i think added to me feeling down while living in Kochi... the size of my apartment. to me, the size of it made it feel less like a real "home" and more like just temporary accommodation. maybe this new apartment will feel more homely? at least it won't be a fkin shoe box.
anyway.... i don't need an excuse to be happy for once.
