....so i've been here for two weeks. what have i accomplished?
nothing, really.
i've met some online friends for the first time, looked around at jobs online, redesigned & updated my resume and... that's about it. as i said, nothing really. nothing that i should have gotten done by now.
i should have at least applied for a handful of jobs by now. i should have done my US and AU taxes by now.
ugh. it's still really hard to will myself to do things sometimes.
in more positive news, my things from Japan/Australia arrived yesterday via UPS. i had shipped them just a day before i left Australia (so on July 25th AU Time), so they got here pretty quickly. some of the boxes were in REALLY bad shape, but thankfully the contents didn't fall out.... until the boxes were in my possession lol...
back to news on the job front, i've broadened my search to pretty much everywhere now. i am about to submit an application for the
English Program In Korea (EPIK) via
Korvia. EPIK is an English teaching program by the Korean government which is pretty much exactly like the JET Programme in Japan. Korvia is a recruiting agency used by the Korean government to recruit native speaking English teachers. i'm REALLY hoping to get into this program.... it's my #1 choice for a job right now. however, if i do get into this program i wouldn't be leaving Vegas until after New Years. :/
i'm also preparing an application for an English teaching job... in Morocco! the school, Wall Street English Casablanca, looks really nice and the benefits are better than i have seen in other places and even include health insurance. honestly, at this point i don't know much about Morocco but i am interested so i figure i'll apply first and research later if the application progresses.
other jobs that i'm halfassedly considering atm are a university and an elementary teaching job in Chile which are through the same agency, but the agency has a fee so i'm kind of like "fuck them." :P i had a chance to apply for a job in Indonesia through a friend, but they wanted teachers in Indonesia by mid-August, which would be pretty much impossible for me.... i've looked at jobs in Vietnam and all of them stipulate a CELTA and/or TEFL teaching certificate, which i don't have.... jobs in Taiwan seem just plain shitty on average unless you have CELTA/TEFL. :/
i'm really REALLY wanting to do a CELTA course because with that certification SO MANY amazing job opportunities would open up for me.... CELTA is considered the best of the best in TEFL certification and as such, it's expensive to get. i wish i had the money... there are plenty of cheapass TEFL courses out there, but you really do get what you pay for... i'd rather not waste my money on a shitty TEFL course at this point.
sigh.
WHY MUST I BE SO BROKE AND IN DEBT?!
i found a seemingly nice jobs in Japan with Gaba, but i would have to have the finances to not only get myself to Japan but also to set my self up living wise..... my lack of money is so frustrating and limiting.
i really hope that i won't have to revert to my last resort options of applying to Peace Corps and/or AmeriCorps....
