pieces of heaven in boxes

mom sent me pieces of heaven in the form of 2 boxes and i just received them. talk about an awesome mom! 4 grocery bags worth of food!

I LOVE YOU MOM!!!!!

no more Kaldi`s for a long time! hoorah! i really have to pay mom back for the cost of shipping, though.... the price was ridiculous. AND YOU BETTER LET ME DO IT TOO. @ mom; it`s the very least i can do, so please. :[

in other news, i had my first E.S. visit this term, which happened to be 2 classes of 2nd years at Takasu E.S.. i`ve been to this school once or twice before, but it was months ago. very big school. anyway, i taught the hyperactive (but not deadly so) kiddies animals, which went over alright... last class had a little trouble remembering, but that doesnt matter because they loved 4 corners, as usual. and as usual, i ended up not having time to play any other games because they liked that game so much. D; in all seriousness, though, E.S. visits arent really about teaching English, they`re just about the kids having fun while they happen to be using words from another language. so really, my lessons are complete successes! :x

Golden Week is almost here! AAALLLLMMOOOSSST! seriously, Golden Week is life saving for us people who are without a summer vacation in the American sense of the term. this is the biggest streamlined couple of duty-free (lol) days off that we`re going to get until the end of July and even then do we only get days off if we take paid leave for it. GOTTA USE IT FOR ALL IT`S WORTH. thus i`m hoping to take my daikyuu (substitute holiday) the day after the holidays are over to extend my happiness a liiitttle more. D;

speaking of happiness and holidays-- my trip to Osaka next weekend. i`ve decided that this trip will be focused on window shopping, sobbing in my cheap hotel/hostel room after window shopping and relaxation. this will NOT be a tourists` holiday, like my Nagasaki trip was, so don`t expect many pictures. it`s really a pain to lugg around a DSLR just to have it on your shoulder all day while in malls and stores just in case of the casual good city-of-concrete shot. my measly, old point&shoot camera has long since been put out of comission. it sucks. which brings me to another paragraph and another topic....

i`ve been wanting to get a new point&shoot camera for months and months now. DSLRs are great, of course, but they are for planned photography. there are so many unplanned photographic moments that i miss out on because i simply dont have and CANT have my DSLR with me at those times. omg, if i had a p&s i could sneak shots of students at school.... D; that`d be so funny. you simply cant sneak shots on anyone with a DSLR. hell, i think some of the time students refuse pictures is because of how much more intimidating a DSLR looks compared to a point&shoot. :[

so that`s established. i want a p&s and i (imho) have good reason to get one! now, which one. i`ve been looking through catalogues and have my eyes on the newest Canon model, a Sony cybershot (*GASP!* im not exactly a fan of Sony cameras, but i`m considering giving them a chance) and 2 Panasonics (*GASP!x2* Panasonic has surprised me with its new features). all the brands and cameras have pros and cons, of course.... but speaking generally about pros, the Canon = guaranteed quality photos and camera build, Sony = slim build & touch screens, and Panasonic = one model with true widescreen photography (16:9) & one new touch screen model that really competes with Sony`s. gah! and should i buy the camera BEFORE going on the trip, so i`ll actually have a cam on me throughout the entire trip to take casual city photography, or should i wait and buy it in Osaka just in case i see something expensive that i want there. then i`ll have the option of pushing off the camera purchase longer in favor of the expensive purchase. D;

help me decide when to buy the camera. D; as for which camera, brand recommendations and tales of personal experiences are welcome.
