a step foward (hopefully w/o jinxing myself)

tiiirrreed. i want to go to bed, but i should update about how well today turned out.

woke up at 6:10am this morning, took off the gauze and stuff on my left foot and deemed the foot well enough to go to work. i then turned on the heater and tv and crawled back into my futon for my daily weekday morning ritual of staring at to news on tv for 30 minutes as the snooze alarm on my cellphone goes off every 5 minutes to (hopefully) ensure that i dont fall back to sleep. it`s a wonderful morning ritual really. except when i forget to set a second round of snooze alarms just in case i sleep through the first round. D; that is dangerous. but its cool how much of the news i can make out first thing in the morning. anyway, i tried to focus on wiggling my toes and such during this time.

biked to school and got there without my feet feeling any worse, then called my supervisor to let her know i was at the school so i wouldnt be taking a sick day. she told me to not "work too hard" and to tell the JTEs about the condition of my feet so they would know and help.... eeeheheheh. i didn`t. i really dont like people fussing over me or having to explain how on earth 3 mins infront of a heater 5 weeks ago did all this to my feet for the unteenth time, so i didn`t tell anyone. i did, however, tell the JTE that always tasks me with English club that i couldnt do it today or tomorrow due to my feet vaguely hurting. took some insisting to get that by her without actually going into the details of my feet.

anyway, i had the predicted 3 classes today and upon returning to the staff room from the first one i discovered that my supervisor had called the school, Y-sensei (vice principle) got the call and my supervisor informed her about my feet.... D`: this resulted in one of my classes getting moved to tomorrow (i`ll have 3 classes tomorrow) and Y-sensei insisting that i go home early. this also resulted in being asked to show my feet to the school nurse (who doubles as the school`s health teacher) and being advised by her, Y-sensei and another teacher who overheard the conversation to wrap my feet in Saran Wrap...... Saran Wrap. i laughed. they honestly didn`t understand why. and i laughed. but i`ll conveniently end my day at Ikku with me laughing at 3 people suggesting i wrap my feet in Saran Wrap.

thanks to getting off work early, i was able to do some badly needed grocery shopping before my Japanese lesson. i picked up, among other things, an ointment thats suppose to be for burns, frostbite and chilblains. apparently "frostbite/chilblains" is しもやけ in Japanese. geez, it would have been nice to have known this term 2 weeks ago. i stood in the medicine store looking up words on boxes with my e-dictionary which landed me this new word (and other new words) for my vocabulary. the three women at Ikku advised against using medication since the doctors didnt prescribe any, but this is what i think of that: if they had to go through what i`ve been through having been through so much pain that there is now a never ending paranoia of the pain resurfacing-- they`d say "screw that" to their advise too. i intend to hold off using the ointment until i need to, though. aka if i feel the pain is coming back, i`m running for the ointment.

*yawn* ...oh~ today was the warmest it`s been in a long time! the high was 15C/59F!! when i saw the weather forecast on the news this morning i was SO happy. the nice weather reaffirmed my determination to go to work today. i hope it steadily keeps getting warmer. tonight in class my teacher taught me a new term that refers to this time of the year: 三寒四温 (さんかんしおん). it literally means that this time of the year a week usually comprises of 3 cold days and 4 warm days. aka the weather will often go back and forth between cold and warm, the warm days outnumbering the cold days as spring gets nearer. nice term i think. :p

at the end of the day, i was able to make it home without feet that screamed `bloody mary`. this is an improvement, but i also didn`t have 3 classes today. hopefully tomorrow continues to show improvement.
