bug bites & colds suck + recontracting

my running conclusion: some bug decided to try something new this weekend. bit me once and liked it. went out and told its friends, resulting in a second bite. bites from bugs killed my generally wonderful immune system, resulting in me almost immediately catching a cold.

damn bugs.

another bug bite of the same type showed up yesterday and today it's swollen so much that it covers half of the back of my hand. x-x; ...however, thanks to my skin tone, no one notices it unless they actually look at my hand. it's a real pain... hurts to touch and i can't so much as flex my fingers without being reminded of its presence. :/

my sore throat and cough are not pretty much gone. taking their place is a rough voice and an insanely runny/stuffy nose. i went to bed late last night and then could barely sleep because in the middle of the night my snot repeatedly attempted to drown me. woke up gagging several times. x_X ...i should have tried sleeping sitting up, but it didn't occur to me at the time...... anyway, i'm EXTREMELY tired now and my hand and nose wont leave me alone. ice helps my hand, though....

woke up this morning seriously wishing i had called in sick earlier, but atleast my nose wasn't so much of a waterfall anymore. went to school and the JTEs could tell i had a cold. and the teacher's room was freezing. ;-; ...but after a while they noticed how cold i was and turned it down... i was SO lucky. SOOOOO lucky. i only had to teach 2 classes today....!!! the last two classes of the day after lunch, so i got to spend the morning as i pleased. :D ...aka i did nerdy stuff at my desk while trying to conceal wiping my nose with occasional visits to the hallway to blow it when i couldn't take it any longer. the JTE i taught with used it as an opportunity to teach the students the term for what i had in english. :'3 afterwards, the head JTE was nice enough to let me off the hook for English Club so i could go home early..... MY WISHES CAME TRUE-- thank you Yoroi-sensei~! thank god because i definitely didn't feel like doing all the talking, like i usually have to in EC.

instead of coming home and "resting"*cough*, i took the opportunity to go to the Board of Education because i hadn't been there in almost a month and i heard through the grapevine that my supervisor was starting to worry. and because paperwork that i needed was piling up in my mailbox there. it's a good thing i went today because any other day i wouldn't have made it there until after working hours, so my supervisor would have been gone and wouldn't have gotten the chance to tell me important changes to my schedule. one of the important things that was lying in my mailbox was a recontracting form....

.....only been here 2 months and already they want to know if i'll stay for another year. bad, if you ask me, but i know that they have no choice. the applications for the 2008~2009 JET Programme have already been released (GOODLUCK EVERYONE!!) and so they need to start figuring out how many positions will be opening for new placements this year... i am already decided on staying for a second year. btw, long shot, but for anyone applying who may be interested in coming to Kochi-ken and working at the Kochi-shi BOE, i know for a fact that 2 positions will be opening because a 4th and 2nd year JET are leaving. :x PUT KOCHI DOWN AND JOIN IN ON THE AWESOMENESS. lololol

anyway.... went by the store to get dinner afterwards and picked up some Vicks Drops. i haven't tried any yet, but i know that they will not be the Vicks Drops known in America because an essential ingredient is illegal in Japan. :/ ...but hopefully they will still be helpful... and hopefully they dont taste like shit because i can't stand meds that don't taste fruity/sweet.

i really want to go to bed early tonight... D: we'll see how that goes.

recontracting, otsu, junior high school, sick, bug bites
