it didn't rain today, so Sports Day was held at Ikku today.
this was my first time being at Ikku, besides the few minutes i was there to introduce myself weeks ago. Ikku is bigger than Otsu in just about every way and the JTEs, who i finally met for the first time today, are very different from Otsu's... @_@ i'm sure it will take time for me to get use to teaching at Otsu for two days and then having to go to Ikku and do things a different way. the students seemed very nice, despite the bigger student population. i got many greetings and little attempts at conversations even though this was the first time they'd seen me. :x encouraging. hopefully not misleadingly so. as for the introduction speech i had been worried about yesterday. luckily i only had to do a very quick intro over the intercom because there wasn't a lot of time. yay.
time passes by so, so slowly when you're standing in the shadeless sun all day... even when watching various events. i hugely embarassed myself by falling flat on my face once.... >_>;; i wont go into why unless asked. :p but the rest of the day was alright. i did kind of feel like an outsider at the school, though... not knowing anyone but the vice principal and not helping out as much as everyone else while taking lots of pictures. :/ i dont feel like that at Otsu... >_> i suppose i gotta give Ikku a few weeks.
about pictures, i took hundreds. literally. so i will need time to sort through them before posting anything, but they'll prob be up by this weekend. i had my camera set to take photos in rapid succession because you can't really catch rapid movement otherwise, so that's why there are hundreds. :P lots of pictures of the same scene but seconds or less apart which do make a difference. i really REALLY need a zoom lens for my DSLR... the photos are pretty distant because i couldn't zoom far. :[ but i shouldn't buy a lens if i might have to buy a laptop... >_>;;
...speaking of buying... :twiddles thumbs: ...i bought a 電子レンジ ('denshi renji'), which is basically what every microwave everywhere else in the world dreams of being but isn't good enough to be. it looks like your average higher-end american microwave, but not only does it microwave but it steams, fries, grills and bakes. ^-^ one could bake a little cake or small whole chicken in it if one wanted to. hopefully this レンジ will help me eat healthier and motivate me to "cook" more.... eating bento, ramen and udon all the time can't be good for me. and having a レンジ opens up a entire new sections of the grocery store which are aimed at レンジ. it'll be delivered saturday evening. yay. ^_^
>_>; ....but i swear this will be the last thing i'll spend a decent amount of money on until i know whether i need to get a new laptop or not. i was dying without a microwave. x-x
