It was a cold blustery day about 5 weeks ago. I walked out of my house, down the stairs and crossed the driveway. I stopped in mid-stride, frozen as I heard a soft snickering somewhere in my garage. The wind was a comfort, contradicting the otherwise deathly stillness of my surrounds. I turned to face my garage door, as the adrenalin kicked in. The

some dude came around a corner of a carpark at high speeds, and into my lane without seeing me. to avoid accident I swerved to the side, and my left front wheel hit a high-curb straight on - SMACK! at first I thought the dragging nois was a bumper, until I got out and saw the wheel was touching the guard, and I had about 8inches of a gap at the rear of the guard. wishbone had snapped.

driving to a nice coastal spot called Lakes entrance, and all of a sudden the car is drifting to the left. i have my steering wheel at an angle to drive straight, and every 30 seconds or so it POPs out and drives straight again...of course my steerign wheel is at the right, so i have to quickly drop it back to a neutral place... 4hrs of driving hell to get back home.... i literally drive into my driveway when the transmission drops and dies a horrible death. PROGNOSIS: when the wishbone snapped in the previous accident, it pierced the 2nd gear of the transmission and was grinding ever since.
4,000 to replace transmission.

In a rush to get to glenhuntly station to take a train to work, instead of walking I took the car and parked it at the station. this was uncommon. When I returned that night, someone had smashed into it, stolen the stereo and wrecked a whole bunch of things like the AC unit. Police turned up no prints. In frustration, I parked the car in the garage to ROT!

6 weeks ago I decided foot patrol and riding a bike was too much. I took it to get a roadworthy certificate (which is required to register automobiles in our state), and it cost $2600 to fix a whole bunch of issues that the car had suffered since the original prang. The issues? struts, ac unit, front and rear bumpers, reinforcements for the bumpers, multiple cardoors not working, front seat broken ...the rest was things I had to do, to get it back to a "standard" state. the cops dont like too many modifications. the exhaust had to be replaced, as did the 17" rimms.
just on $600 to register and get new plates. extra $600 for rating 1 car insurance. its a serious pain, especially since the car is probably only worth 9-10k now. but i needed a car on the road, and i knew it would perform aslong as I got some niggly things fixed.
