It's the freakin' weekend!
I'm listening to Ben Harper "amen omen" I love him!!!
busy week... 3 days of clinicals working in the psychiatric wards.
we searched the streets of Santa Ana yesterday for homeless people, in order to meet some basic health needs. One diabetic lady had a blood sugar of 444. A normal blood falls between 80 & 110. Crazy huh? Lots of hypertensive cases too.
The outreach was through the Mental Health Association, a nonprofit group. I was impressed by how much good the organization does for the community, and I find I am drawn to public health. I want to work in the hospital, and I will probably do that for a couple years to acquire skills & experience, earn money so I can buy a house .... but then I want to move on to where the rubber meets the road.
What else? I went on a date with Jonathan last night. the plan was to go bowling but Becky backed out last minute and when I told J, suggested going out for Indian/Pakistani food because he knew a good place nearby. He likes Indian food because when he went to Berkeley he ate a lot of it to get by. I have to agree ... Bay Area Indian food is SO dang good.
We came back and joined sam, Brian, Sean for some card games and beer. I like inviting guys in my life immediately into my circle of friends and family because I feel like they are such a big part of my life, if the guy can't handle it, then we won't get along.
There's a lot to do this weekend. I feel a bit overwhelmed. Usually we would have Friday off, but I went to the outreach early to I could make up time for when I go to the National Nursing convention in April. I am going to Nashville, Tennessee for five days with some of my nursing buddies!! I bought the tix this morning so I am definitely going. I don't really know what to expect, but I am open to seeing what kind of opportunities open up, and if I find new ways to get more involved. We shall see.....
