Thursday morning attempting to get dressed after my shower, a shock ran through me. It felt like a punch. And my right buttock was in spasm.
I haven't thrown my back out in ages! The walking all summer improved my muscle tone such that the back problems just stopped. So at first I was in despair, sure that this was a sign that I'm degenerating into sloth and atrophy.
Made myself walk to work in the hope that if I keep moving the spasm will work its way out. This generally helps. Came home pretty sore and tired from the sitting and the compensating.
When I woke up this morning I was very stiff. And I remembered that I fell on Sunday. It made me much more cheerful to think that perhaps I'm not actually falling apart, I just overdid things this weekend. I'm a bit grouchy that the walk was too much for me. But it was an ambitious walk, and would have seemed long even when I was at my best this summer. And the fall simply wasn't my fault. I hit an icy/muddy patch, skidded into an attempt at doing the splits, banged the inside of my right knee on the ground. Then I straightened myself out and lay flat for a bit waiting to recover enough to get up again. Took a nice bath that evening and was subsequently sore. Is not so surprising that I'm not right yet.
Nonetheless, I must must must walk more!
