Stripies!
One night as I was supervising the evening piddle, Sparkles was looking forward to stories. I reminded him that we needed to do pajamas next. "Stripy!" he said.
It's true that the past several nights he wore stripes, from the I heart Mom ones with stripy pants, to the two pairs of two-piece size 90 Hanna Anderssons that Grandma and friend got for him last spring. "I don't think we have any more stripies. We could do the zip-up pjs with the cars."
He thought about this. "The blue ones." Yes, the car pajamas are blue. He thinks some more. "Orange!"
My turn for thinky. "The orange and red stripies?"
"Yeah!"
So I got out the one-piece zip up size 80 orange and red striped Hanna Anderssons that DrinkingCocoa gave us, the ones he has been wearing since before his first birthday.
I have always adored these pjs. So soft. They set up a yearning for more Hannas, and I've been so glad that Jen's mom got us the others.
We put them on, and I gazed at him in wonder. He was so long and lean, filling those pjs completely like never before. My little child. Where did the baby go; that little person with the big cloth-diaper butt?
How much longer will he wear them?
