I have so many feelings.
I'm sure most DC fans have heard about the upcoming reboot, right? Yes. Well. DC has been gradually releasing information about their titles and they have now reached the Batclan.
Basically I am not pleased. DC, why are you trying so hard to make me hate you?
Look at this fuckery:
First of all, according to sources, “Bruce Wayne will once again be the only character to be wearing the Batman costume.”
Um... yes. This release pretty much made me froth at the mouth, I was so upset. Dick will no longer be wearing the cape and cowl, which means that Damian will now be Bruce's Robin, even though Morrison has already established that they would not make a good team, genetics be damned. Bruce, I love you dearly and I am pleased that you are back, but there is no need for you to steal your eldest son's sidekick. You can have Tim. Leave Damian with Dick. They need each other.
So. Dick is back to being Nightwing (without fingerstripes and in red. DC, WTF, YOU ARE KILLING EVERYTHING I LOVE, STOP IT.) and my new favorite Dynamic Duo is no more.
This (in addition to all the commentary) sums up my feelings on that change fairly well.
Also, DC is making it seem like Barbara will go back to being Batgirl, and although part of me would be pleased to see her out of the wheelchair and back to her old self, a larger part of me is just... no. I adore her as Oracle, and I love how strong she is despite her paralysis. That's part of what makes her so fantastic! How many heroes in wheelchairs do we see, eh? SHE IS AWESOME.
And what about Steph? Cass is safely established in Batman Inc. (thank heaven), but it's looking more and more like Stephanie will be retconned out of existence.
I haven't heard anything about Tim yet, and Jason - as the Red Hood - is apparently teaming up with Arsenal and Starfire to form a kickass team of antiheroes, which... okay, yes, that could be awesome. (Go Team Ginger! \o/)
BUT WHAT ABOUT DICK AND DAMIAN. THEY NEED EACH OTHER. DC, WHY DO YOU HAVE TO SPLIT THEM UP, WHYYY.
I'm just... I can't... I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS. AND MOST OF THEM MAKE ME DO THIS:
.... Okay. Deep breaths. I will remain calm. And in order to do that I am going to write some fic because then I can pretend that Dick and Damian will be together forever.
