hello world ^^

Life has been the tumult of moving up to Boston and trying to get settled in. Still not fully unpacked, but after traveling to Hawaii for a wedding and having Henry's parents stay with us for five days, things are finally starting to calm a bit. Of course this means I have only two weeks before I head back to NYC to start teaching again @_@

My summer of writing is now condensed to my half of August of writing, but I will make the time for it. I'm struggling to read some Korean scholarship on the formation of the modern Korean novel, which is exhausting and time consuming, but I am also playing piano, reading the criticism of Randall Jarrell (brilliant, well-written, mordant, occasionally despairing, yet also deeply compassionate), and doing a lot of thinking. I must learn to make the most of this gift of time...otherwise, how will I possibly manage once teaching and traveling between Boston and NYC starts?

Speaking of which, I need to get back to studying. Wishing the world well...and if you in the U.S., you can still try to catch the tail-end of the Perseid meteor shower tonight. I've seen a half-dozen or so this year. Little flashes, and a couple dazzling streaks, fiery red-orange and lingering...we saw some in Cape Cod at Marconi Beach this past weekend.

Go and catch a falling star,
Get with child a mandrake root....
