TAROT READING

FAQ

What is it?
Originating around the time of the renaissance, tarot is a deck of cards, typically numbering in 78, that is used as a form of divination. It is comprised of two parts: the major arcana and the minor arcana. The latter is made up of four suits of wands, swords, cups, and coins, and is structured very similarly to playing cards. Each card has their own meaning and can be interpreted for specific situations.

How does it work?
The client chooses a deck that appeals to them, and then asks a question. With the question in mind, the reader will shuffle the cards and lay them out face down in a spread best fitting for the question. Each spread varies in how many cards are used, but typically they range from 1 - 10. The most popular, the Celtic Cross, has ten. Each card represents an answer to different questions that, when put together, give insight to the client's concerns.

What kind of spreads are there?
1. Relationship Spreads -- Best used with two people, these spreads are used when client(s) have questions about love, romance, or their relationships. They do not necessarily have to be romantic!

2. Revelation Spreads -- These spreads reveal more about your personal self and focus on developing what you want and need.

3. Destiny Spreads -- Used to help plan the future. I'm hesitant to say that they predict the future, but they do help you understand whether or not you are moving in the right direction or if it's time for a change.

What sort of question should I ask? The easiest questions to answer are phrased as "what" questions. "What will help my relationship?" is easier than "Why is my relationship not working?" Phrasing your questions in a positive light will help reveal positive answers, ie: solutions to how to fix something vs. everything that's gone wrong.

Is it evil?
No! Tarot is a tool and possesses no good or ill will on its own. That is dependent on the intent of the question posed by the client. But I trust you all are a good lot. ;)

How long have you been reading?
I have been reading tarot for over a year now, but I confess that I still consider myself a novice. I'm opening up for consultations to become a better reader.

Do you charge?
No! As I have said, I'm fairly new to consultations. Additionally, I don't trust readers as much who charge because it's too much like paying for what you want to hear. I just want to give the most accurate reading I can.

How long does it take to receive a reading?
It takes me about 10-20 minutes to do a reading, depending on the depth of the question and the depth of the spread. At the moment, please give me at least 3 days from submitting to respond back. If it will take me longer, I'll let you know!

EXAMPLE READING
done just this morning (3 August 2011)!

[ Divining Myself ]
Deck: Sorcerer's Tarot
I chose to do this spread to see what I need to focus on and understand about myself as I am job hunting.

1. I am this now: Knight of SwordsI am self-confident and knowledgeable, but can be brusque and impatient when things aren't getting done.

2.This is what bugs me: The MoonI dislike feeling confused and uncertain, and hate when secrets are kept from me. The most frustrating thing is when I lack clarity in a situation. I like to be in the know!

3. What I like about myself: the High PriestessMy intuition and gut instinct.

4. What I don't like about myself: The DevilI dislike how insecure I can be, especially when my future seems so uncertain. I hate my dependence on money.

5. My talent: Judgment I am good at making unclouded decisions by taking in all the facts and assessing the situation with an open mind. Once a decision has been made and the results are in, I am capable of moving on and not dwelling in the past, despite whether the outcome is positive or negative.

6. My temptation: II of Swords I want to block off my feelings and feign indifference in situations that make me uncomfortable.

7. My personal quest: Knave of Pentacles To start a new career!

8. My guardian angel: The Empress Creativity and compassion, two things that I believe very strongly in and rely on to be successful and happy.

Result: I'm currently looking for a job, and I'm frustrated when I have to wait to hear from a prospective employer. On the other hand, I'm good at moving on if I don't get what I want, even if it's at the cost of hurt feelings. I'm looking to start a new career that allows my creative side to flourish. As a compassionate person, I would do well also working directly with people.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION

1. Select the deck you'd like me to use. I use the Rider-Waite, Sorcerer's Tarot, and Legend: Arthurian Tarot decks. All are Rider-Waite based.

2. Think of a question. It can be as simple as, "What is the inner me?" or it can be more specific, such as my job related spread (see example).

3. Submit! Tell me a little more about yourself. Provide as little or as much information as you'd like. This will give me a better idea of who I am thinking of as I shuffle the cards. All submissions/comments will be screened for privacy!

Let me know also how you wish to be reached. If a reply to your comment works best, great! If you'd prefer I LJ message, e-mail, tweet, or use tumblr to reach you, leave your contact information in the comments.
