Okay, so for those of you watching Glee, you know what scene I'm talking about.
So, I love the scene between Kurt, Finn, and Burt for so many reasons because everyone gets called out. Finn has every right to be upset with Kurt. He is being a creepy little fucker and not being understanding whatsoever. I've been waiting for Finn to call Kurt out for so long!
THAT SAID, it is not okay to use fag ever. This is the point that Glee is trying to make. They're not saying that Finn is homophobic at all. They're saying that society has taught people that it's okay to use words like fag without consequence, and Finn freaked out and spoke without thinking. It was wrong of him, and it was good that Burt called him out on it and kicked him out until Finn got his shit together.
The entire episode showed the pressure that was on Kurt and Finn that led to this moment. Karofsky and his crony corning Finn and calling him a fag made him feel threatened. It's not saying anything about Finn, but it's saying everything about the society we live in. Burt had it right when he asked Finn if he would ever call someone the N-word, or use retard. Why should fag be different, acceptable?
I don't like people taking sides in this episode. Kurt was wrong. Finn was wrong. They both got their shit together. In the real world, good and evil are not clear cut, and neither is this. I loved every person in this scene (but most especially Burt), and the message behind it.
