From Gibby and Dagny...
Five things you would tell your sixteen-year-old self:
1) Glory isn't going to fall into your lap. Don't be afraid or unwilling to work for it.
2) There is more to life than glory. The dreams you have now are not necessarily the dreams you will have in ten years. Be open and flexible; the world has a habit of snapping people who aren't. The right course always presents itself in due course.
3) Don't be afraid to make mistakes. That's how we learn best... and NEVER be afraid to learn.
4) Your family is the most loyal, loving, and caring group of people you will ever know. Do not shun them, do not take them for granted. Spend time with them now; they won't be around forever.
5) Death will find your loved ones, and you won't always be there when it does. Enjoy the time you have with them now, and let them know how much you care about them. This goes for your friends too.
And...
Seemed interesting enough. Definitely a good book. I'd suggest Tuchman's work to anyone.
You're The Guns of August!
by Barbara Tuchman
Though you're interested in war, what you really want to know is what
causes war. You're out to expose imperialism, militarism, and nationalism for what they
really are. Nevertheless, you're always living in the past and have a hard time dealing
with what's going on today. You're also far more focused on Europe than anywhere else in
the world. A fitting motto for you might be "Guns do kill, but so can
diplomats."
