Ok, I don't do this often, but here goes... my brother and sis-in-law just had my new nephew (5/5/08)... his baptism is in a couple weeks. I (nor Poops) wasn't chosen as godparent. I can see this being the case some years ago, like when my niece, Reagan, was born - as I had just re-entered the land of the responsible from a 0-60-self-destruct relationship that I couldn't control... semicolon, however, comma... today is quite the reverse. I don't proclaim to be the end all of godparents, but I do proclaim to be the only "Aunt" Coltan will have (blood related, anyway).
Rob is my only brother, and this really hurts. He's aware of it and has said he didn't have much say (true of some relationships), and he's really sorry - will change it and make sure his input is heard and, well basically that I'll "stand up" for Coltan...
... I told him if he asks me now, I'll say no. And I will say no.
Fundamentally this changes things between my sister and I - I love her and I love my brother, and I *almost* believe he had nothing to do with the decision... but that only leads me to... SHAME on him for not being involved in his own son's baptism.
*sigh*
Should I be this hurt or not... I have gotten so far as I realize the kids best interests are all I care about, but I've not gotten far enough that I'll go to the after-party! Oh, and Mom is WAY pissed! And let me just say, that is *not* a good thing. I suppose it's all principle...
It's been a long time since I've been hurt, and feeling it from family is really tearing me up!
So...
Note to self: Never ever allow Poops to paint your toenails again! (seriously, looks like five specs of pepper on a slab of pork)
