Title: Remembrance - Found (I)
Pairing: PiKame, RyoUchi, others to come
Rating: PG for now
Summary: Kamenashi Kazuya was a very important person, to a very important person. But that important person was not very important to Kazuya. Unfortunately.

Author's notes: AU, not a vampire fic. I intend to insert smut somewhere, but I've yet to write anything vaguely pr0nish. Work with me.

“Yo, long time no see.”

Yamashita looked up wearily at the familiar voice, cheerful despite the gloomy atmosphere. He attempted a weak smile, “Yo.”

The other regarded him for a while, before cautiously entering the dark room, completely unlit save for that tiny sliver of moonlight the half-drawn blinds couldn’t block. “What are you doing?” he asked, stepping towards and amending the half-hearted job. A pull here, a firm tug there and the room was thrown completely into darkness.

“Thank you.”

His voice was quiet, raspy. Raw. Like he’d been using it a lot.

“Yamashita,” he asked, a bit of curiosity creeping into his voice, “what happened while I was gone?”

The question was met with silence. There was no movement from the other, no indication that he was even going to answer. Feeling offended at being ignored, he stepped closer to the forlorn figure.

A step, then two.

Yamashita looked up, his eyes not really meeting his, not really meeting anything.

“I found him Ryo,” he said tiredly.

-

His feet quickly took him to his destination, his anger nearly blinding his sense of direction. Had he not known where he was headed, not remembered where he was going, not been conditioned for this journey, he might have gotten lost.

-

“UCHI!” he roared the moment he arrived.

Subaru raised an eyebrow at him. “Manners Ryo,” he chastised none too gently, “the very least you could do if you intend to barge in whenever you want.”

The brunette snarled at him, his fangs glinting dangerously from the light reflecting off the chandelier. “I need to see Uchi,” he growled.

The man blinked. “Yes, I understand but it’s very late and he has retired to bed.”

Ryo’s eyes narrowed. “It’s important.”

“His rest is important as well, in case it has slipped your mind,” a cool voice cut in smoothly.

Ryo’s head snapped around and he hissed. Ueda barely paid him any attention despite addressing him.

“I will not permit you to interrupt his sleep, no matter how important you deem the matter,” he said coolly, “he is not like you, he needs to recover.”

Subaru nodded absently, “That is correct, now it would be good if you came back in the morning.”

-

“Eh?” Uchi cocked his head adorably as the other man loomed before him, a smile soon breaking out on his face, “Morning Ryo!” he greeted cheerfully.

Absently Ryo wondered how Uchi could be so forgiving when he’d just stormed into his bathroom, especially in the situation they were in now - Uchi soaking in the tub and him standing before him put the other at a great disadvantage, and he should be somewhat worried, fearful even, but it was Uchi and the boy wasn’t scared of anything.

“I came to see you last night,” he snapped, “Subaru and Ueda sent me away,” he spat out the name in distaste.

“Ah,” Uchi smiled up at him, “I went to bed early, sorry.”

He felt a pang of something as the other apologised, felt something else as he smiled. “Well,” he cleared his throat, “it wasn’t like you were expecting me, so don’t apologise.”

The face beaming up at him left him feeling quite disgruntled and he felt uncharacteristically irritated with himself. Why was it that this mere boy could make him say things he normally would never?

“Dangerous,” he muttered under his breath, “I should be more careful around you.”

Catching the words, Uchi’s face fell. “Why?” he asked, something like hurt colouring his words, “Do you think I will harm you?”

“No,” he answered too swiftly for his liking. The hell was wrong with him? “No,” he repeated more calmly.

“Well, what did you need to see me for?” the boy said, easily changing the subject.

“That is,” Ryo stuttered for a bit, caught off guard by the sudden change in topic, “I saw Yamashita, and he said…” he trailed off, his gaze tearing itself away from the other, and he lowered his eyes to the ground, “…he said Kazuya has been found.”

There was a splash as Uchi stood up abruptly, the water sloshing out of the tub and spilling over.
”WHAT?”

Ryo couldn’t help the heat that crept up his neck, couldn’t push back the blush that burned his face. Stubbornly he kept his eyes averted.

“HE FOUND KAZUYA?”

“Yes,” he replied, his voice softer than it had ever been.

“But that is…” Uchi choked, then recovered, slowly lowering himself into the water again. He shook his head, “No, that’s impossible.”

Ryo finally lifted his gaze, his expression gentling as he saw the troubled look on the other’s features, “Yamashita will not lie about something that important.” To him, he thought but did not say. Uchi heard him all the same.

“No,” he nodded distractedly, “I suppose he wouldn’t. Kazuya is his world after all.”

They fell into silence.

“I will,” Ryo said after several moments, “I will leave you to your thoughts then.”

Uchi nodded at him, sparing him a small smile, “Thank you, Ryo.”

The older man couldn’t ignore the fluttering of his stomach as he bid the other adieu.
