It's March. In past years I would be getting painfully restless for winter to end. This time around, the pear trees already popped with white blossoms, I find myself musing "That was it? That was all of winter?". And there was much rejoicing...
Already there have been record warmth but it was a brief spell. Fortunately there was no brual freeze to ruin the early buds so now that the tempuratures have normalized, Spring comes gently. Sunshine and thunderstorms, flowers and leaves. I do love this seeing this all for the first time.
Of course, with the Spring comes the Spring FLU. A nasty bug that beat me up and made me its bitch. After a week I am now crawling back into the world, dazed but no longer miserable. And there was much rejoicing...
The dogs are quite happy with everything down here. It's amazing that after seven years of backyard roaming, they adapted well (for being dachshunds) to life on a leash and harness. I once took them to the dog park, just us alone and let them run without their harnesses on. Not only did they not run, they were very uneasy and were glued to my side. I have since learned that if I just unhook the leashes and keep their harnesses on, they run free and wild. Which is funny because yes, that's how I have to walk them. In their harnesses they feel they can go anywhere and I have to steer them or in most cases, I have to just go with them wherever they want to. Without harness, they are nervous and stick by my side. Hmm, maybe I am going about this walking thing all wrong? Silly doggies.
I'm glad I already had a vet established. Cricket got an absessed tooth and needed to have the tooth pulled. She's always been hard on her teeth, this one have been broken with the nerve exposed. She's all better now and the vet was great. Thanks,
Yelp, for helping me find a good vet in the area.
As for life in general...work is awesome. I still haven't started writing. My photo-a-day project of 2010 hasn't been extending to 2011, though I do try to take pics when I see something I like. I have a few photography projects in mind, theme based, so I want to start on those soon. I will post the pics to Facebook when done. Other than that, I need to explore more of the area. I had no idea until last week that there is a whitewater rafting place right outside of Charlotte. Seriously? Oh yeah! The
US National Whitewater Center is only a 35 minute drive from my place. I am so checking that place out!
Well, tomorrow is Tuesday, Mardi Gras, or I know it better as....Paczki day. I am going to miss having a paczki from Macri's. I have no idea where a Polish bakery is around here. I know there has to be one somewhere. Oh delicious decadent goodness...
