Last night I willingly traded some of my privacy for free ice cream. That's not quite right, I've been letting the grocery stores track my spending habits by those little rewards cards that give you a discounted price. I have no illusions about what they are doing. They are tracking my habits to better advertise to me and get me to spend more money in the store. That being said, I actually have no problem with letting go of that piece of privacy. I don't really care if they know I like buying Cambells chunky soup, milk in glass bottles, and the store-brand icecream. Plus, as a reward they sent me coupons that weren't just for 35c off some name brand thing. They actually sent coupons for completely free products that I already buy. Thus last night I got $12 of free products (including some very yummy ice cream) just for letting them track my purchases. Now if only the other stores would also send me coupons for free products...
