Simplicity and Necessity
More simple pleasures, though of a different sort.
Being single and on my own for the first time in something around 10 years, I realized how much work it is! It is the good kind though. In previous partnerships, household chores and such have always been shared - though I will admit to not generally taking on my fair share. Now, living alone, I find myself having to do it all. At first it seemed a daunting task, finding time to do all these things, attempting to achieve balance, but each little chore now feels like a small victory in a sense, a step toward true independence.
It is the little things that leave me with a smile on my face; changing the cat litter, taking the garbage to the dumpsters, filling my own 3 gallon water bottles and putting them on the cooler, doing dishes, cleaning the house, laundry. Seemingly insignificant things, but for once I am doing them all for me. It is a beautiful thing.
