I went to the midnight showing. Shit! I'll never do that again. As much as I like to surround myself with geeks like me, there are far too many annoying people in this fandom. In Santa Cruz, California, anyway. I'm not saying that I don't have the potential to be annoying.
I LOVED it. In all honestly, I didn't expect to love it. Once the opening scene starting rolling, I sat back in my seat in all confidence. The whole movie just felt different, deeper, the way the book felt. I am so happy and satisfied. A job well done!
I am about to take a nap (that's my excuse), so I'll keep this simple.
Things I Liked:
1. "I'm going to penetrate your mind." Lols. There were many a Snarry moment in just those few scenes.
2. Neville! I love him so much. Everyone cheered for him. ("Don't do it, Harry!" So brave. I hope he makes Bellatrix pay in DH!)
3. This movie made me like Ginny. I was proud of her, and it made me root for her, vs. Cho.
4. The antagonization of Cho, I'm guessing since her friend was cut out.
5. Close-up on Moony's face in front of the Veil.
6. Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix.
7. Luna!
8. Dumbledore-Voldemort Battle! Dumbledore pwns. (And Order-Death Eater battle as well! Rad shite right there!)
9. Harry's Possessed appearance.
10. Daniel Radcliffe's acting... improved.
11. Any Dumbledore's Army scene.
12. Lots of humor! (i.e. "So how was it?" "Wet." HAHA. Ohhh, man. I was like, *facepalm*)
13. Fudge's photo on Umbridge's desk.
14. FUCKING FUNNY eyeofsauron!flash of Voldemort during his possession of Harry.
15. TONKS WAS SO HOT.
16. Dudley's intro, with the inclusion of "Who's Cedric? Your boyfriend?" Very funny.
17. Grimmauld place was so amazing! It was how I had imagined it!
18. Snape's reaction to Umbridge questioning him, LOL.
17. The directional stylings of Sirius' death (lack of sound, etc).
Things I Did Not Like:
There weren't many on-the-surface type things I didn't like, but I'm guessing I'll have more complaints after reading other people's reviews.
1. The brevity of Snape's Worst Memory and the Occlumency lessons.
2. Cho's hair, lol.
3. The "yay!" feeling at the end of the movie. A MAN JUST DIED, DAMMIT.
4. They left out some stuff that I assumed was important/going to be included:
- Neville's role in the prophecy.
- Ginny's involvement with Dean (LOL, not really.)
- Hogsmeade with Cho.
- More Order stuff.
- Quidditch?!
- Snape's memory: Where was Lily Evans?
5. Filch's boil EW.
6. Draco isn't THAT much of a pussy. Seriously, read the book, there's more to that kid. I hate movie!Draco, though. He's so tactless. It's like his insults never advanced since the first year. 'Your parents are dead, Potty.' 'You're poor, Weasel.' 'You're a mudblood, Granger.'
...ow?
6. This movie made me like Ginny.
All in all, those are just nitpicky things. The movie was superb. I hope HBP will be just as good, if not better!
