Dear Festividder,
I've been doing this for years and I still DON'T REALLY KNOW HOW TO DO THIS. Hi! I love you for making me a vid! (Or doubly love you for a treat, if you're here for that!) I am all about wanting you to make the vid YOU WANT TO for a fandom we both care about, and my comments here are mostly inspiration-y. I am not picky at all about music, my taste is all over the place and I can honestly say I've loved vids using songs I wasn't even a fan of before. (And then I just start liking the song by association! *g*)
So eeeee let's get to the fandoms, I cannot even contain my excitement for all of these.
Her [movie, safety]
I mentioned this on twitter but there's something that fascinates me about the MAYBE IMPOSSIBLE idea of vidding from Samantha's POV, a character who is never really "seen" onscreen but her audio presence is heard throughout. Please don't feel intimidated by that concept though, I would be totally content with a vid centered more on Theodore. This movie has a really pretty aesthetic and I always kinda like things with a different approach to sci-fi tropes like an imperfect but real relationship between a human and AI.
3rd Rock from the Sun (NBC, 1996-2001)
Ahhh I have a totally inappropriate, like, *absolutely* embarrassing attachment to this stupid sitcom about aliens trying to understand Earth. I'll sorta repeat what I said in previous years about this show, my favorite thing about it was the Solomons as a unit who totally grew to act like an actual family, so something with lots of them bouncing off each other in addition to humans would be great. :) In fact a recurring theme in my requests will probably be FAMILIIIIIES so get used to that.
How to Get Away With Murder (ABC, 2014-)
My new weird darling show?!?! This one may be tough because it's still early in its first season but I'm already addicted. I love the hyper WTF-ness of it and the amorality bordering on total asshole-ness of many of the characters while still maintaining a likable and vulnerable side. While a focus on Annalise would be fine (and awesome!) so would a vid focusing on any/all of the core four students I lovingly call my MURDER BABIES (minus Asher), I love them all with a particular soft spot (and ladyboner tbh) for Wes and Connor.
Killer Women (ABC, 2014)
AH FOR A BRIEF SHINING 8-EPISODE MOMENT I HAD TRICIA HELFER BACK ON MY TV. Ahem. If you know me at all, you'll know there's only one reason I requested this and it's the Cylon Formerly Known as Six having a lead role as a badass Texas ranger (with a troubled past who holds a gun and empathizes with ladies and contains multitudes). Basically, I want a vid about her faaaace and also her BSG brother and Riley!boyfriend can come too.
The Leftovers (HBO, 2014-)
This show is such a beautiful exploration of grief and unknowing on a huge yet personal scale, and I really like the world-building and approach to how people would deal with such an event years later. I love the presence of religion while not being a religious show exactly, more about the ambiguity and the cult figures that spring up in the wake of a Rapture-style event. The only storyline I was never wild about was Tom & Christine, though I wouldn't mind them in an ensemble-type vid. I like Nora Durst and Jill Garvey a lot.
The Simpsons (Fox, 1989-)
Same as last year, I'm requesting The Simpsons with the very specific hope of a Lisa-centric vid. :) She was THE formative character of my childhood (so really the Simpsons era I care about only goes to around season 10) and it would be really cool to get a vid for her. Of course if you care about some other Simpsons-related thing, the show overall had a HUGE impact on my sense of humor and I'd probably enjoy it, but just so you know where my heart lies, I was (and still aspire to be) Lisa Simpson. *g*
Six Feet Under (HBO, 2001-2005)
I've requested this before so I'll say again that I'd love something about the Fisher family as a whole or David/Keith (or David in general, forever fave). Alternately any of the women on the show (Ruth! Claire! Brenda!) individually. Really this is just one of my all-time favorite dramatic series and pretty much the only show I've ever known to jump the shark and then swing back around and get amazing again by the end. Anything about it would be aces.
Transparent (Amazon, 2014-)
Speaking of Six Feet Under, one of my favorite writers from that show, Jill Soloway, went on to create a critically-acclaimed series for Amazon (now I guess rivaling Netflix for quality internet programming) and MOOOORE PEOPLE NEED TO WATCH AND VID IT PLEASE. It's about an upper-middle-class Jewish family adjusting to the father they've known coming out as transgender (yes the title is a fucking pun) and finally beginning to live openly as a woman, while her three adult children are all struggling with their own identity in some way. Like SFU it has complex characters and family dynamics and omg I want vids about the Pfeffermans, self-absorbed warts and all. I would like pretty much ANYTHING related to this show but if I'm particularly interested in Gaby Hoffman's Ali.
