So... This past week hasn't been the greatest:
- we can't afford to buy any of the textbooks I absolutely NEED for uni
- Dad accidentally downloaded a virus onto my laptop and I still don't have it back
- Mum gave me plenty more lectures of the woeful state of my life and lack of friendships
- My second best friend from school had her 21st birthday party and, surprise suprise, I wasn't invited
- I didn't get any pressies for my birthday today but did get to have dinner at home with parents, siblings, Grandma and an aunt - who Mum decide to invite without checking with me first.
On the plus side - when I was 18 my father wrote me a poem. He's trained as a mechanical engineer and is now a science/maths teacher and is quiet, shy and not very open with his feelings and emotions. I received this in my card today - he wrote THIS for me this year on the occasion of my 21st. Sometimes I get cross at him and frustrated with him and many times I don't agree with his opinions. But I do and always will love him dearly.
Nicole, my little girl, has turned twenty one.
Just yesterday, she was bundled up in jump suits and booties.
Last night, I tucked her in and kissed her soft cheek goodnight.
This morning, she bounded from her bed, gobbled 4 slices of toast, before heading off to school.
Now she is at Uni, working, learning, growing.
Where will she be tomorrow?
Nicole, my little girl, has turned twenty one.
Just yesterday, she was small enough to fit snuggled into my arm.
Last night I rocked her to sleep and soothed her quiet whimpers.
This morning her toes are poking out from under her quilt.
Now she is a beautiful young woman, gracious and wise.
What will she be like tomorrow?
Nicole, my little girl, has turned twenty one.
Just yesterday she said her first word - it wasn’t “Dad” but it wasn’t “No!”
Last night I read “Peep-o” while her eyelids slowly closed.
This morning, she read 2 volumes of Harry Potter before breakfast.
Now she reads the “Complete Works of Everybody” just for fun.
What will she do tomorrow?
Nicole, my little girl, has turned twenty one.
Just yesterday, she played with blocks and books - no Barbies thank you!
Last night I stumbled over a floor covered in Lego and homemade crafts.
This morning, we had a game of Monopoly and Scrabble - she won, of course.
Now she watches Monty Python and giggles in her room at 2:00am.
What will her interests be tomorrow?
Nicole, my little girl, has turned twenty one.
Just yesterday, I cried over her cot as she lay there quietly breathing, my heart breaking with love.
Last night, as she settled down to do her homework, my heart ached with love.
This morning, as I drove her to school, she groaned as I told her I loved her.
Now she answers messages with “xoxo”, I grin stupidly and my heart aches with love when I read it.
I know I will love her tomorrow.
