I've been doing a lot of thinking recently, and I decided to start a new blog on a different website. Hence, this entry on livejournal. I have a few friends who are already on here, and I figure I might as well, too.
Anyway, what's going on in my life these days? Well, I can honestly say that it has vastly improved from a year ago at this time. Man, I was such an emotional mess, but I lived through it, and I'm ready to conquer the world! Okay, maybe that's stretching it just a little. But I have made some firm decisions about the future and even managed to have some fun this summer.
Since I'm a teacher, I get about 2 1/2 months off in the summer. Many people scoff at me when I complain about my job sometimes. Trust me, I require that 2 months just to be able to go back the next school year without a complete meltdown. I have definitely been busy this summer. In June, I attended 3 paid workshops and had bunion surgery. While recovering from bunion surgery, I worked on the computer and caught up on my reading a bit. In July, I took a trip to Minnesota where my parents are from. We went up to Lake Superior and stayed at this place called Barker's Island. It was really nice. I got to see an old friend from 3rd grade whom I have kept in touch with via letters and email for the last 16 years. I also spent good quality bonding time with extended family. We don't see each other often, and it's even more rare to have most or all of us in one place together. I have a big extended family!
Since my trip, I've been working on plans for school, cleaning up around the house, and just relaxing. I also made some important decisions about this coming year as well as the next few years. 1) I'm going to grad school this Spring to get my Masters in Gifted. 2) I am going to rent my current house for at least another 3 years so that I can put money away to buy one. 3) I am going to continue to take better care of myself by continuing to eat healthy and exercise, but also to avoid stress and the things that trigger it. I have made the conscious decision not to take school work home during the week this year. I started doing that the last half of last year, and it made such a difference in my stress level. I'll go into more detail later.
Okay, so now you know way more than you wanted to about my life decisions. I actually started writing a blog about a year and half ago as an outlet for my thoughts. Plus, I'm nosy and like to read other people's thoughts, and I figure why not reciprocate? It's only fair. So, I hope you continue to read and enjoy my musings as they are educated in some form ;-). Happy Reading.
