They speak about prophecy and the future of Earth. It must be minutes, to his ecstacy, before her smile fades. "I'll never forgive you," she says, not with hatred, only calm sincerity. He nods. Never seems such a useless word here.
"I believe you believe that," he answers. This doesn't make her happy.
"Do you think I should?"
Sadness envelopes him for a moment. "No. I understand," he says. "But I think..." She might. It's worth waiting to see. He will always give her time; never is meaningless now. "You forgave your mother and father," he reminds her. "They hurt you before I did, worse than I-"
"I didn't realize you all had a contest going," she mutters.
"You forgave your mother."
"She was my blood. You're barely even... gods." Kara doesn't finish, only scoffs to herself. It was different; her mother is dead now. They all are. "Who even let you in here?" she asks.
He looks into her eyes with all the force he cannot touch her with. "I don't know," he says truthfully, ashamed of his ignorance, the lack of certainty and grace. He is begging her to have the answer. He is begging for the answer to be her.
