My Pictures from Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals (Part 1)

Jun 13, 2012 03:42

Congratulations to the LA Kings for winning their first Stanley Cup. I watched Game 6 at home instead of in a bar because I didn't want to cry in public, in front of strangers, when the Cup was handed out, heh. So I watched it at home on a stream on a laptop while chatting with fangirls. And totally ugly-cried on my couch while the Kings fans counted down to the end of the game. While I'm disappointed that they didn't boo Bettman, the atmosphere at the Staples Center looked and sounded amazing. I wish I could have been there. I was, however, at Game 5 with a friend. And while I didn't get to see the Cup awarded in person (the hockey gods frown on hubris, apparently), it was an amazing game and I learned that my zoom lens plus the sports setting equals magic. I also developed a lightning-fast crush on Drew Doughty.

NB: Have not perfected the art of sports photography by any stretch of the imagination, so please forgive some out-of-focus shots. :)

Homemade Stoll jersey is amazing.

This was outside the Prudential Center in the Devils fan zone, with free face painting. I almost wished I supported the Devils then! One day, I will be a crazy sports fan with face paint. One day.

So this is when I fell in love with Drew Doughty. Like, at first sight of his luscious locks.

Behold, the gloriousness of Dustin Penner's playoff beard. God, I just realized that I'm not going to recognize most of the Kings once they shave their beards off. With the exception of Dustin Brown, of course, whose sons can probably can grow better beards than he can. :)

Matt Greene's beard is also magnificent in person.

Dustin Brown staring down the barrel of my lens and freaking me out a little. STOP IT, BROWNIE.

Intense Scuderi is intense.

Unf.

Seriously, all the playoff facial foliage was amazing. I can only hope that the Caps will experience all this one day.

Alec Martinez is also hot as fuck in person, though always slightly cranky-looking.

See?

Drew Doughty, meanwhile, is just sex on skates.

This is blurry, but so adorable. Doughty and Trevor Lewis mock-fighting with Colin Fraser (OH FRAS WHAT IS YOUR FACE).

Quickie!

And now we come to one of my favorites, Jeff Carter, aka Too Sad To Trade, aka Canada's sensitive lumberjack. And of course, Mike Richards's significant other.

True story: Richie is so tiny compared to his gargantuan teammates that I did not find him on the ice until like five minutes into the pre-game skate. Richards, next to Carter (of course), next to Kopi, next to Pancakes. ♥

Richie and his tongue. One for linaerys. :)

Pancakes is contemplative.

One of my favorite pictures ever. Marty Brodeur, 3-time Stanley Cup Champion, future Hall of Famer, just chilling out while watching the young 'uns skating around. :D

And now team for my #2 muppet husband (I think you all know who #1 is), Anze Kopitar.

I didn't realize the extent of his intensity until I downloaded these pictures from my camera. I mean, FUCK.

Ha! Matt Greene pulls a Seguin face.

Seriously, Colin Fraser always made the *weirdest* serial killer faces on the ice. Which really surprised me, considering how adorable he is on Blackhawks TV and Kings Vision videos. Check out his playoff beard video on the Kings website. It's adorable, including everyone in the dressing room ragging on Brownie's beard.

Jeff Carter is probably looking down at Richie right there. Heee.

Drew Doughty with his blue gum hanging out of his mouth, Kaner-style. Yet, I still find him attractive. :/
