This is officially the first part of our crazy hockey adventures, aka Game 4 of the Pens-Flyers series in Philly. I joked about us getting beaten up by angry Flyers fans before the game, but seriously, we only saw like five other Pens fans in the entire arena. (Luckily, we escaped mostly unscathed, probably because the Pens *shellacked* the Flyers 10-3.) The Wells Fargo Center was drenched with orange, and in fact, the sea of orange t-shirts and jerseys in the crowd actually makes the lighting really yellow and warm. Once again, photos are mine. Please do not repost without linking back here. Thanks. :)
Oh Flower. Also, see what I mean about the lighting? Everything has an orange hue.
So these were taken before I discovered the magic of the sports setting on my camera. Yeah, not so good with the focusing here.
And now time with our favorite yoga instructor, Geno.
My favorite part of Geno's on-ice stretching routine.
This is a close second, wherein our intrepid hero tries to swim to freedom. On the ice.
Swim, Zhenya, swim!
As you can tell, I was a bit fixated on my #1 Russian husband. He's just the cutest in person, okay? And Sid skates way too fast for me to capture him properly. Although I am really fond of this:
This is definitely one of my favorite pictures from all my crazy hockey adventures.
Allez allez, Marc-Andre!
I tried to capture some of the magnificence of Tanger's hair, for
puckling.
And here it is, the pedostache. In all its glory.
Again, wish I'd known about sports setting before this game. But here's blurry Geno anyway. Because I love his muppet face even though when it's out of focus.
I love it when Sid's just chillaxin'. Or tries his best impression thereof. Go you, Sid!bot.
Unf. Good form there, Sid.
Aww, derpy Jordy. There you are.
Geno is always the last off the ice.
See what I mean by orange?
I could watch goalies do full splits all day long. Fuck.
Flower facing down one of the Flyers ice-scraping girls. I felt so bad for them. It must be FREEZING to wear that little on the ice. PS: Stay classy, Philly.
So the Flyers "fans" (seriously, you support your team to the end, no matter what the score or the parking situation is) started leaving around the middle of the second period, when the score was around 6 or 7 to 3.
And this is what it looked like in the third, when the Pens were up 9-3. BTW, I started chanting (softly), "We want ten! We want ten!" Fortunately, all the sourpuss, butthurt Flyers fans had left, leaving only good-humored fans who chirped back and forth with us, but not with any serious malice. Again, see score.
All in all, it was an amazing game for our first time watching the Penguins in person. And then a little over 12 hours later, we were on a bus to DC for the Caps-Bruins game. Next time, more Penguins pics from Game 6. :/
Note to self: I need some Pens and Caps icons already.
