Gacked from tout le monde...

The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

The original project got completed, albeit as an MPhil, so there would be No Going Back. I struggle to imagine going back to Anthropology at all, really, because like any academic field, ten years out is an eternity, and I have no idea what goes on any longer. But I do get the occasional twinge of regret...

When I was pregnant with A, I used to wonder about the fieldwork-with-children-in-tow plan, but once she was born I found the idea way too scary. I was OK with living ten thousand feet up a mountain, a day's walk from an airstrip, in a country with no healthcare, but I couldn't make that decision for my children. I know plenty of people who did it, and had the most amazing experiences, but they must have had children equipped with better respiratory systems than the SBs, who did not require emergency nebulising at irregular intervals! And now they are bigger and tougher, but they have their own lives, and would have an awful lot to say if I proposed dragging them off to another country for a year or two.

I'm probably more likely to do research into education these days (because yes, it is a passion, and I still want to know how things work and how we can make them work better), but I reserve the right to revert to Anthropology in an elderly mad way when I retire...

An interesting query, merci.
