sharing/crying time.

Oh my, I think it just hit me that Harry Potter is almost over...I just bought my ticket for the midnight showing, and then I got all sad because these books and films have been such a huge part of my life in SO many ways. As sad as this all is though, I am so unbelievably happy that I got to be a part of this experience over this last decade.

I think my best memory with Harry Potter was reading the final book. I didn't go to the midnight release, but I got up early to go stand in a very, very long (awesomely long though, because everyone had their hardcover DH books in hand) line at Borders, and proceeded to spend the rest of the day sitting on the couch reading.

Where we were living at the time, the living room wall that faced the back yard was almost entirely comprised of floor to ceiling windows, and I remember just as I finished the last page the sun was setting, and it was a perfect moment. Now, four years later, the final movie is coming out, and though I know that Harry Potter will live on for a long time (and I will most certainly be reading it to my kid), this is the last...first.

Everyone has the first time they read the book. Mine was a bit odd. I had heard of Harry Potter, but never read them, and got PoA for Christmas. I tried to read it, but I started getting really frustrated because everyone kept saying "You-Know-Who", and I kept being like "No, I don't! Just tell me!". Needless to say, I went back to the beginning, and my life became a lot better.

But now there aren't going to be more firsts. No more midnight showings, no more books, no more speculation or spoilers or anticipation. It will all be in the past - but it makes for quite a magical memory.

(I didn't make this but wanted to share it, as it's like the best HP video ever. And it might have made me tear up a bit...)
