I am going to cut this so if you don't want to read it, you don't have to...

Last week I filled in for a secretary in the Family Law dept here. It went okay, but I worked over 48 hours for the week. My paycheck tomorrow will rock, but still that is a hella amount of hours when I am used to 29.5. So when I was presented with the opportunity to fill in last week it was under the pretense that I would be doing it to test out how I would do as a secretary since there would be an opening with two attorneys. My thought was that this would get me the full-time hours that I need for $ as well as the benefits I need. I figured it would work for the time being until I figured out what I want to go back to school for, since I have several options I am considering. So I filled in and all I received was praise for doing a great job. I found out in the middle of last week that the possible gig was a no-go since the attorney's switched and it was going to be for someone I could NEVER work for or I would kill myself. So I left last week Friday thinking that I had learned some new skills that I wouldn't really use. Fast forward to today in which our Human Resources Directory contacted me to see if I would work for two Medical Malpractice attorneys next week while their secretary is out on vacation. I asked who they were and if I could consider it. I come to find out through the course of the day that she already told the attorneys that I would be filling in. She told them this yesterday when I was home sick. WTF! So I gave my response at 1 pm saying that yes I would take the gig for a week. Seriously though, I don't want to be the floater secretary. I want to have a say in who I work for and not just get placed with someone.

Saturday…I had a great birthday. I hope Harmony and Sarah has a blast as well. We all ended up driving to Lansing to go to P.F. Chang's. I love that place. Harmony got wasted and after we left the restaurant said, "I have nothing in my head right now!" Which should be hilarious for those of you who know Harmony. That phrase is Sarah's new ringtone. It was weird to have a birthday and not have everyone here. There wasn't everyone gathering at Chris and Ken's house before heading out to the bar. There wasn't Mo and Windy there to make fun of me. Worst of all, Troy wasn't there to celebrate. It was just bizarre, but I guess this is how things are now. I know all of you have been gone for a while now, but I don't think I realized how hard it was going to be until something like a birthday comes around and there isn't the same number of people to help you celebrate it. Those of us that went though had a great time and much asshattery took place.

Anyway, I think that is enough of an update for now.
