Time for a quick update…

I am been to several concerts in the past week for the Muskegon Summer Celebration. I will detail them below.

Friday, July 1 -
Harmony, Natalie and I went to see 112 and Boyz 2 Men. It was great reliving my 12 year old self days and watching old people look bewildered when 112 asked if there were any players in the audience.

Saturday, July 2 - Seether, Crossfade, Dark New Day, and Lit -
Harmony, Sarah and I were supposed to go see this but instead we stayed and did scrapbooking in Holland where I was house-sitting.

Sunday, July 3 - Smokey Robinson
Natalie, our mom, and I went to see great old Smokey play may Motown favorites.

Monday, July 4 - Michael Tolcher, Howie Day, and Gavin DeGraw
Harmony, Natalie and I went to see this show. We missed Michael Tolcher but arrived in the middle of Howie’s first song. Howie was more into the crowd this time that he was when I saw him at Calvin a while back so that was appreciated or maybe it was because there were 12 and 13 year old girls up front drooling over him. Either way it was a better performance. Gavin was amazing and I am in love. At the merchandise table the deal was if you bought a Gavin t-shirt you received a meet and greet pass after his performance. Harmony and I both bought shirts and I even told Natalie that I would buy her one if she wanted one. She could have cared less though. So after the concert Harmony and I lined up where we were supposed to and watched the fireworks while Gavin being the generous man that he is decided to play during the fireworks when he had already finished his set. After that a giant clusterfuck occurred. Harmony and I were at the front of the line and we ended up near the end. We waited it out for our chance to meet Gavin though. When we did make it up there I gave my shirt to his assistant for him to sign. Harmony was before me in line. My convo, that I am still embarrassed about when like this:
Gavin: “What’s up dude?”
Me: stammering out a “Wha?”
Gavin: “What’s up dude?”
Me: “Oh I am fine. How are you?”
Gavin: “Good.”
Me: “Great. Thanks” AND I ran away I jumped in the air outside of the gate and screamed to Harmony “he talked to me!” What I didn’t realize until we both ended our giddiness of Gavin DeGraw talking to us was that there was a 50 something year old couple watching us. We apologized for being loud or something and they joked that their daughters were probably going to be doing the same thing. That’s when Harmony said something along the lines of her husband not appreciating her screaming over Gavin. So I ended the day making an ass out of myself. What’s new!

Tuesday, July 5 - Styx
Good band that played an awesome live show and even did a cover of the Beatles “I am the Walrus”.

Wednesday, July 6 - Journey
Great show as well with a lot of audience participation.

Sunday - I have tickets to see 2 opening acts and Collective Soul. The two people who were going to go with had plans so I don’t know if I will go or not.

Anyway, that is a wrap-up of my week in concert going. I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

I will try to post the strange goings on at my work one day next week.
