"You really do know me well dontcha, sugar?" Rogue asked, not even bothering with 'hello'. She picked up their electronic conversation right where they'd left off.
She loved when Nicky called, or when she could call him. Being able to talk to her BFF about anything and everything, and cross Lord only knew how many lines and boundaries was natural to her. She just knew John might not understand, so it was probably better for him to be in Boston right now.
"I am indeed blushin', but you're grinnin' a bit, right?"
"I really do," Nicky grinned, shaking his head. "And you KNOW I'm grinning. Especially at the idea of that sweet little voice saying wicked words." He leaned back in his (new) desk chair. "So, what's been up, baby?"
Rogue giggled, making herself comfortable on the bed as Stella curled up beside her. "Well, you will be if my wicked words have any say in the matter."
What was it Rogue had said to John about no longer flirting? But this was Nicky, and she did anything and everything for him. Even break rules that never seemed to apply to their friendship anyway.
He grinned more, chuckling softly. "I think it's that sweet southern belle thing that does it. It's incongruous. But that's wildly attractive, as I'm sure you've been told before."
It probably WASN'T the best idea to have phone sex with his best friend. But when had that ever stopped him? Though, there'd been plenty of times they'd teased they were going to and wound up laughing for hours talking and never doing anything more.
"How's everything?" he asked, closing his eye and leaning back further.
"Careful sugar, I'll start gettin' a big head. I probably have been told it before..." But she can't think of an occasion right now. "John told me I'm the only southerner he can stand, so I guess that's a good thing. Don't want him runnin' off with any girl with a drawl." She had a grin on her face that could probably match his, and she stretched an arm before folding it behind her head and watching her toes as she wiggled them. "And you know I ain't all that sweet, Nicky. Least not all the time."
No, it probably wasn't a good idea. But it was the fact that they could start with the intention of phone sex and then wind up talking complete crap that had them in giggle fits that made their friendship one of a kind.
"Everything's good. John got home the night after me, so I'm not so much climbin' the walls at not hearin' from him anymore. Kills me when I don't know if he's okay. I'm just back to bein' a happy wife. KInda worryin' about my friends, but then when don't I?" She cleared her throat. "How's everythin' on your end?"
