Web...

This morning we had our first matinee of Charlotte's Web for Dondalson Elementary. I was really sure it was going to be horrendous, but it actually turned out really nicely. I've got to say, being Avery for an hour and a half is both releasing and exhausting. By the end of the play I found myself really released of a lot of built up crazyness/silliness. It was quite freeing to be in touch with the child in me for a while. I also felt like I needed a really, really, REALLY long nap. I had forgotten how draining it is to be seven years old. Not only that, but it's exhausting being seven and expected to make people laugh. I pretty much made it through the rest of the day on little sugar bursts and Lori. But really, today was the first time I really felt connected to my character. Cessa called it channeling Avery. That would be exactly what it was. Although, I was channeling at the wrong time sometimes today. Sorry Cessa :)

We got to go talk to the kids after show and we spoke to them in character. I think that was the highlight of my day. Normally, I'm not a kid person. They're cute until they start crying. At that point I turn them around and push them back in the direction of their parents. I'm always paranoid that I'm going to make a child cry too, because here's the thing, if they get upset with you and start crying it doesn't matter if you were really right or not, you're always wrong!!! Does anyone else know what I mean by that? Anyway, today I really had fun pretending to be Avery and talking to the kids. They all really enjoyed the show and it was exciting to see them smile when you came over to them. To be able to present such a wonderful story of friendship, make them laugh, and then bring those larger than life characters right up to their faces was one of the most rewarding experiences of my acting career. It really reminded me why I wanted to be an actor.

CP had lunch on the stage. I've got to say, for the first time today, not only did I connect with my character, but I really clicked with Canyon Players. I finally felt the friendship and commitment to each other that people talked about so much. I feel really lucky to be in a class with such accepting people who really are devoted to their art. It was really nice. (I hate that adjective but I really can't find anything else)

Lori and I went to fuel her car during fifth hour. We left Shawn a message on his phone telling him to come help us because "the soda machine was broken". Really that's one those stupid things that we would probably be the only ones to find funny. I'm not really sure why I'm sharing...oh well.

Don't forget to come check out Charlotte's Web this week. if you haven't gotten your tickets yet it's probably a good idea to book them in advance. It's looking like were going to sell out (most likely on Friday).
