Last night was the Halloween party at Aunt Joanie & Jenny's house. Grandma & I headed over there about 3:15 pm. Jackie was still getting ready when we got there. We were the first ones there.
What's funny is that Jenny called Aunt Barb to tell her to be there at 4 pm because we wanted to pick teams & get started. She said she'd be there by 3:30 & Jenny said if she was there by 3:30 she'd be the first one to get a clue. Well ya know Aunt Barb, won't even be on time for her own funeral so of course she was late. I think it was closer to 5 pm by the time she got there.
Chad, Andy & Shane were captains. I got picked for Shane's team. It consisted of Shane, me, my mom, Uncle, Kenny, Aunt Patsy, Sam, Adam & Gina. Chad's team had Mackenzie, Julie, Chad, Uncle Donnie, Uncle John, Heather, Lisa & Aunt Barb. Andy's team consisted of Erin, Andy, Aunt Susie, Aunt Sunok, Grandma, Jackie & Jen. While Aunt Joanie & Jen ran everything.
Once teams were picked, the first game was putt putt golf in the backyard. There were obstacles in the backyard you had to go around. I should've used my cane as the putter, I probably would've done better.
Once we were done with the putt putt golf outside, it was time for dinner. It consisted of Grandma's mostacolli, Aunt Patsy's hot wings, rolls & butter, salad, a veggie tray & ranch dip, a platter of strawberries & fruit dip & green bean casserole. I went straight downstairs to find a place to sit. Chad brought down a plate for me since Aunt Joanie's basement steps can be kinda tricky. I swear Chad must've thought he was making a plate for a Detroit Lions linebacker or something cuz he piled a shitload of food on my plate. I ended up giving Aunt Joanie & Shane a couple of my hot wings & I gave Uncle Kenny what was left over of my mostacolli.
After dinner we continued along with the games. The winner of the games got 2 clues, while the other teams got 1 clue. There were a total of 24 clues in total (which were the motives). The evening was like a live game of Clue. At the beginning of the night each team got an envelope & in the envelope had cards for rooms in the house, weapons used & different suspects (each a character at the party). Then you had inquisition cards that you used to narrow down the person, room & weapon.
We learned early that it was the werewolf (Uncle Kenny) because first Jen came over to ask if we had the werewolf & we said no. Then right behind Jen, Chad came in & asked the same question. And with the inquisition cards we figured out which weapon & which room it was in. But it wasn't as easy as figuring out who did it with what & in which room. You also had to figure out a motive for the murder of Aragog (the black widow's husband). And the motive was the last clue. To get the last clue you had to figure out a cryptogram. Uncle Kenny whoooped some major ass on that thing. Once you had all that information you had to go find the black widow & present your case to her. Comes to find out the werewolf (Uncle Kenny) killed Aragog because the werewolf was getting revenge on the one who had him bitten by the werewolf that turned him (that was Aragog). The black widow had just mailed Aragog's insurance policy to collect the money, so Shane Sam & Uncle Kenny ran up to the mail box up on 9 Mile to present their case & our team won!!!!
In all the years I've been going to the Halloween party, I've never been on a winning team! YAY!!! :)
There were all kinds of games we played besides putt putt golf (that was the only outdoor game). We did some physical games like throwing rings on an inflatable octopus' legs each marked with a different point value; slurping jello out of a cup with a straw til the cup was empty; building a scarecrow; darts; sucking a peanut up with a straw & carrying it while it's stuck to the end of the straw over to a bowl & dropping it in; putting a spoon tied to a string of yarn up & down everyone on your team's costumes & bunching up then cutting the string & whomever has the shortest string wins; the kids busted open a bat shaped pinata. There were some trivia games about the history of Halloween & stuff like that; there was Halloween Bingo (kinda like baby bingo at baby showers) where you fill a bingo card with Halloween words & playing bingo. And I can't remember the rest of the games off the top of my head.
Grandma & I got home about 1 am (before the time change). Grandma had to wash all the white mummy make up off her face before she went to bed. She was lucky it came off because she had to lecture in church this morning. Then I got in the shower to get all the gold glitter out of my hair & off my face. I felt a lot better once I took a shower. But I think all the caffeine I had in my amaretto & cokes got me wired & I couldn't fall asleep til like 3 am (after the time change). So I'm pretty tired today!
I'm not the only one who didn't sleep well last night either. Mom & Uncle Kenny couldn't fall asleep due to the caffeine & Grandma couldn't fall asleep because she couldn't get warm. I'm surprised she was cold. I was sweating my ass off by the end of the night.
Uncle Kenny & Sam hung around Grandma's for awhile after church this morning because Uncle Kenny helped Grandma winterize the camper (including buying a new battery). Then Grandma & Sam hauled some dirt from one of the back flower beds to the one up front along the brick wall.
party,
