We spent New Year's Eve drinking and making snow angels until our bodies were almost completely numb. Stumbling back inside was a little difficult and incredibly hilarious at the same time, but I couldn't tell you what was so funny. I ended up crawling across the floor to the fireplace before collapsing in a heap of wet clothes and giggles and heavy breathing. I'm not sure how Eric made it to where I was, but a minute or so later he was draped across my back singing something that didn't even sound like english to me at the time. It took a little bit of work but we managed to take off coats and gloves and boots, which reminds me that I need to buy new gloves because one of mine ended up being slung into the fire. There was a lot of hair petting and sloppy kisses after that, some of the feeling slowly returning to our bodies as the warmth from the fire sank in. Our hands were still cold when they met bare skin, but the chill faded away quickly. The kisses became less sloppy and more hungry, and all in all, it was a really really great night.

2005 was one hell of a year and it seems like it passed in one huge whirlwind with the new album and touring and everything else that ended up happening. I think it's safe to say that there were more ups than there were downs, thank god, but you can't seem to have one without the other. I'm still sort of glad that it's over, though. I've always liked the idea of a new year being a fresh start, wiping the slate clean. You can still keep the good things as memories and let go of the bad, leave them in the past where they belong. The fact that it's a new year always seems to make that a lot easier to do, so it should be taken advantage of. I love how last year ended and I love how this year began, and if that's any indication of how this year will be, bring it on.

And on an almost sort of random-ish note, we're in Japan now getting ready to start the last little leg of touring for Never Gone. We finish at the beginning of next month in Australia, and then we really will be finished. It's a little hard to believe that it's all going to be over that soon, but it has been a long and wild ride with this album. Hopefully we'll get to do it again soon, and by soon I mean before another five years goes by. Keep your fingers crossed for that one.
