The idea of cheaping out on paint in a very poor one, yet one we all have. We watch these DIY shows on HGTV that say they bought $100 worth of paint for an entire house and voila! Instant Make over! Primer isn't super necessary depending on the paint you are using and what you are painting over. Solvent-based paints painted on a painted surface (hee) is usually fine, unless you are going from a dark to light color it shouldn't be a big deal.

You can use other paint brands' colors in the BM paint blank, fyi. Most any decent paint shop will do that for you.

I HATE those edging sponges. The coat is so thin and after like 6 inches it starts to show streaks. They also don't actually go to the very edge, especially if the ceiling isn't perfectly perpendicular to the wall/floor. Maybe a really high end one would work better. I always use rollers and an edging brush--for the condo we did the whole thing that way with no tape and just rollers and edge brushes. Once you get the knack, it's also a lot faster.

The plus of paint supplies is most of them are re-usable for the next time at least. If my hoouse sale goes through I am definitely investing in a decent canvass drop cloth. That was the most aggrevating thing of my last major painting project.
