Well,
jeffford and I spent a good chunk of this weekend trying to win the district qualifier for the North American Pairs and in the process earn a free trip to Reno, where the main event will take place. The first place pair qualified and won free air fare and hotel accomodations. The second place pair just won the air fare, and the third place pair must pay their own way. That must be why we decided to take fourth place, the best of the rest. Anyway, we played perhaps our most solid matchpoint bridge ever on the first day, turning in two 60% sessions. Today we started to make mistakes again, and our carryover from coming in a close second yesterday was not nearly enough to win, given our 49% and 55% performances. Ah well, perhaps I will plan instead to attend the summer nationals in New York.
