Everything changed a lot

It's been a very long time since I hopped onto here - I remember starting this my senior year of high school and it's been over ten years since then? Wow. I don't think I write much differently honestly, though I'm probably a lot less manic...

A lot of things changed the last few years.

I'll just put it forward - they're actually pretty good changes! I had that quarter-life crisis about wanting to play music again? I actually went forward on that. I'm not in the sciences anymore - I ended up having to make a very hard choice, because I wasn't happy at the time, and I needed to do something to change that.

So I auditioned for a harp program, and am now working on a Bachelors in Music, for Harp Performance and Music Composition.

Crazy huh?

But honestly, even though I'm stressing out about finances (currently teaching about 14 hrs/wk), I'm doing music. I'm composing, I'm performing, I finally performed the Ravel Introduction and Allegro! I auditioned for Aspen (didn't get in), got to go to a harp colony at Curtis Institute of Music, I'm doing some competitions, I can learn Rhapsodie-level pieces in like 2 months... it's really been a huge push. And even though I'm really tired all the time (still never got a lot better at self-care, ehe...), I'm so much happier than I was.

So that's the really huge one.

The other being that I also have an adorable dog, and I'm engaged.  XD

It's really funny looking back and seeing that huge crush I had back in high school... (I do hope he's doing well.  I do see random tags with him on Facebook, and I've sort of internally joked that if I ever write a piece involving mandolin, I know someone to contact).

It is weird being back in a college setting with peers who are like, 8-10 years younger than me... but I'm not the only nontraditional student, which helps.  And I'm currently the senior-most harpist, so... I get a LOT of things to play.

(I still hate Wagner harp.  *shudders*)

That's it.

Life is busy, but it's headed in a good direction.  :)

*Edit* Just wanted to point out that I never dropped video games.  I'm currently obsessed with Monster Hunter World, was a bit disappointed with Final Fantasy XV, am taking a bit of a hiatus on FFXIV, and like trying out random indie games when I have time.  But right now, it's Monster Hunter World.  It's technically the 4th MH game I'm played?  But anyway.  DUAL SWORDS MWAHAHAHA though seriously I wanna try out the switchaxe... (it reminds me of Bloodborne).
