Since I'm currently sitting in a lab losing my mind, and also annoyed at certain public perceptions, I'd like to make a few comments:
To become a scientist, one must accept:
1. You will be in school for a long time.
2. You will work very long hours. Very frequently.
3. You will need to be good at networking and socializing with others.
4. You must be very good at both writing and math.
5. You will be poor.
That is all.
... the question for me is, do I want to process my samples tomorrow or not? Because I've still got over twenty Cape Cod ones to go...
