I didn't know before today that Claudia was in love with Al Gore. I, myself, have a long running infatuation with Mr. Gore (more than that, though...I was convinced in high school that I could marry his son (yes, the one who was hit by a car), Al Gore III (even though I have a profound dislike of folks with roman numerals after their names) to get in with the family...however, I think his multiple arrests may have gotten in the way of our love). What can I say...who doesn't love a man who has both an Oscar and a Nobel?

However, my heart swelled just a little bit more today upon reading about this clip, where Al says, "I think it’s wrong for the government to discriminate against people because of that person’s sexual orientation...I think gay men and women ought to have the same rights as heterosexual men and women - to make contracts, to have hospital visiting rights, to join together in marriage, and I don’t understand why it is considered by some people to be a threat to heterosexual marriage.”

Oh, Al. Okay, so maybe you supported the Defense of Marriage Act as a vice president, and maybe you didn't make your opinions on this known as explicitly as you could while running for office. This is certainly nice, though. Thanks for being a pal.

And, yes, I realize all of you have likely already heard about this. I'm not exactly the most news savvy lady on the planet.

However, if you haven't heard about this, which absolutely makes my blood boil, consider yourself informed. Please ignore the fact that I'm linking to Arianna Huffington's blog. I know that coverage of this event was likely downplayed in the media by the request of the Clinton campaign, and I'm not sure I fault her for that if it was at her request...I understand that she has to make a lot of folks forget she's a woman so that they'll believe she's a politician, and that's gotta blow. Stories like this may be seen as only reminding potential voters of this "vulnerability"...ah, the joys of womanhood.

Okay, that's about all out of me on politics, oh, for forever.
