.I'm checkin' in.

Man, work is way too worky. Hence, I will indulge in some frivolous non-working, LJ-updating behavior...mainly because I'm a shmuck who gave my all around here way too soon and now can't keep up the relentless pace.

I've been super impressed with my attempts to keep up with some of the resolutions I shared with you kids last week...I managed to accomplish .three. (cookery, as the Brits call it) by heading out and getting the goods to make pancakes and chicken sausage on Sunday morning, which was lovely. While doin' the groc-thing, I picked up some tulips and some hydrangea, which have been absolutely lovely to look at and to smell (well, mainly the hydrangea...mmm, so pretty and lovely smelling) the past few days, and which is in tune with .one. (the carpe diem resolution, let's just say) and me not giving a hoot about how flowers aren't really the best thing to be spending my well-earned dollar-dollar bills on. .twelve. (pretending like I actually have the ability to write something from time to time) is being well taken care of with this post, however meager.

My great pride of this past week, though, has been in resolution .nine. (S.O.S.S.L. (Save Our Sharon's Social Life)) and my efforts involved in keeping my troth to it. Holly (bookery) and I managed to meet up for dinner last Wednesday, and it was, as I hope I managed to express to her at the time, so absolutely wonderful to see someone and talk like a normal person about my life and just be me and be in the pleasure of such wonderful company. We also consumed something called the "Golden Bag" at the Brown Sugar Café, which was far more deep-fried-testicle-resembling than any appetizer ever should be. I had a phone date with my good buddy from MHC, Aislinn, on Sunday afternoon for somewhere between an hour or two, and again had the wonderful experience of just being me in all my me-ness, which was far secondary to the joy of being able to hear what she's actually up to and how she's doing in California. As soon as I finished that conversation, I was headed for the T (ah, my first "Tap and Go") to head up to Somerville to see Cone (cone_monogatari), where wine, cheese, meat, the Simpsons, and good conversation was to be had in multitudes (stress multitude especially on the wine). And, last night, Lauren (thelastcity) and I hit up some beers and potato skins and Boston Common-wanderings (involving marching around on the ice hills made from Zamboning (is that even a verb?) Frog Pond, until some very, very excited dogs pretty much king-of-the-mountained us right out of that piece)). I am an extremely lucky lady, and so blessed to have so many wonderful, patient, good-hearted friends...even managed to squeeze in an hour-long chat with Pip (who is still undecided as to his state of residence post-grad school, leaving me with a sliver of hope that maybe, maybe, we could eventually live in the same time zone, at least) and a short chat with Marta.

So, yes. My resolutions have pushed me toward more of a happy, gee-I'm-so-lucky-to-be-a-part-of-this-amazing-universe feeling. It's simple (the feeling, not the complex universe), but it's pretty damn great. I mean, who can fight with rolling out of bed on Saturday to go get a brie, pear, and apple crêpe? Not me, said the happy bear. Not me.
